I'm looking for opinions on what looks best to fractional operators. I've got the usual mix of time, lots of PIC piston twin, some regional SIC jet, some Caravan. Ultimately want to work in the frac world, NJ is my current hope, and I'm wondering which is better: PIC single turbine or PIC Piston twin (402,etc) . Any opinions, especially from anyone involved in recruiting, would be greatly appreciated. Also, wondering what seems to be a competitive TT at NJA is right now, especially with all the FLY I guys out there?

Total times are up, but you DO have a shot. If I were you, I'd meet an NJA pilot, rent a C-172 and prove to him you can fly, take him to Outback, buy him dinner, get him smashed then hand him your double spaced, proof-read L.O.R. for his signature. It is the surest way to move into the "good" resume pile.

Seriously, get an L.O.R.. It is your best bet. Either way, email your resume.

I would agree with swept's plan to get the inside LOR. As far as what time to get, if you do not meet a particular NJ minimum that would be priority numero uno. (little multi-lingual action at no extra charge)

If you meet mins get those LORs from inside if possible or from other sources as high up in places you have flown in the past. Better to have a LOR from a CP or DO than just some regular captain you flew with that NJ does not know from Adam.

With min flt time and the LORs get the application in ASAP. As far as choosing between the single turbine or multi piston I would consider your specific situation. If you are light on multi time go the multi-piston. If you already have plenty multi but not much turbine then go for the turbine time.

JMHO

Good luck and hope to see you at NJ.

So funny that Netjets was the worst place in the industry to work at just 6 months ago. The only thing that changed was the money...

I was wondering about LORs from people outside of NJ and I get an answer to my question before I can even ask it. There is hope for this board!

In addition to a friend at Netjets I've also had both a Training Department Captain and an Ass't CP from my current job offer to write me a LOR and I just wasn't sure how much of a difference the outside LORs might make.

Every single one of you on here were bitchin' about how bad it was at netjets and how the company sucked etc... THATS ALL WE HEARD FROM YOU FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS. Dont make me go back and put all your quotes on here. And since when does $$$=QOL??? AND, let me tell you something, the company didn't change, your contract did. The company still sucks like it did 6 months ago when you were looking for another job. Talk about drinking kool-aid....

blah blah blah. Cosmo is right. You guys had absolutely nothing good to say about your company for months on end and now all the sudden it's the crown jewel to work at? Give me a freagin break. This argument is about Netjets not flexjet. Is the "mine's better than yours" the best argument you can come up with for your company? What a bunch of hypocrits.

QOL vs. $$$

First of all, let me apologize to maniac for not answering your question. I need to put the brakes on some F.U.D. my fellow Flexers are spewin’

Hey, stop jumpin on the NJ guys… QOL issues are getting mixed up with $$$$.

OK. Let’s look at the #’s.
If one were hired on at both companies 6 years ago, where would he stand? (I am using round numbers to protect the innocent).

The Flex guy would have made $25,000 to $29,000 more over the last 6 years depending on what fleet the NJA guy was upgraded in. YES, we heard the NJA guys screaming about this, trying to bring the pay standard closer to NBAA. True, we were all bitchin’! There is another story here…

QOL. The NJA guy would have worked 222 days less during that same period. That speaks volumes, baby. Did you hear that….222 more days at home, at the golf coarse, watching the kids grow up… Do ya smell what I’m cookin’ here.

OK, how will they catch up?
Let’s say that the PBS GODS shine on the Flex guy and give him the coveted 15 day line. That’s 195 days a year. With the new contract, including signing bonus, This NJA guy will catch up in 3 years to make up the pay differential over the past 6 years.

He will have done this working 33 days less over the 3 year period.

I would have to agree with GuitRock. They were kickin’ our A$$ on the QOL issue long ago. Now, they’ve raised the bar. Flex needs to keep up.

Just send in your card.

I hear crickets... Nice post necromonger. Actually, truth be known I've been at NJA 10 years and enjoyed every one of them. Most of us would say they same thing. It did get a little contentious the last few years but it was all worth it.

I was standing in line at the DFW AIRINC job fair in 1997. It was the Netjets table and the hiring guru there was a man named John McIntyre. In front of me was an F-16 pilot and a Harrier pilot. I felt bad because I had ZERO Jet time. How will I be hired?

John sent the F-16 guy away because he did not have the multi-time. The AV-8B guy got hired but ONLY because he had 450 hours combined T-2 and C-12 time... and the military conversion put him over 500 hrs. he was on shakey ground.

I was in shock that the F-16 guy was turned away.

When I got hired there were several people I met who were hired that had NO TURBINE TIME. ZERO. One guy made PIC in about 4 months and became an IP after a year.

This tells me that muti-piston time is better than single JET.

To add to Gunfyter's input, when a friend of mine interviewed here last fall, one of the guys in his interview group was an F-16 pilot and if I recall correctly, was actaully an F-16 IP. He wasn't hired, for whatever reason.

I have heard some talk that one thing NetJets likes is pilots who have experience in a crew environment. So that might be something else to consider when thinking about what sort of experience will appeal to NetJets.
