Best Heaset for an ERJ

Just looking to see what kinds of headsets you folks are wearing in the jungle jet. The Dave Clark clamps are killing me..

I agree the DC's are horrible. I cant stand them much longer. The Bose X works very well Ive heard. The only problem is the price. I also heard of a couple of guys wearing a headset called auricomm?, made by quiettechnologies. Dont know anything more than that but I too am in the market for some better headsets.

I've seen a lot of guys use a telex pro III (I think that's the model name) they seem to like it with molded earpieces for both ears. You're going to want to make sure you get those little metal things called restrictors or noise filters, though. I use a peltor passive noise reduction headset 7006 is the model #. I have the extra deep foam earseals from Oregon Aero--extra $40 but WELL worth it. I am very, very comfortable for 7-10 hours of flying. DCs are good quality but poor comfort. Only annoying thing is there is no adjustable gain on either of these headsets, so there is a lot of background wind noise (worse in some airplanes, better in others due to the intercom sensitivity setup, I guess). DCs are usually much better in his area. If you go with a telex or peltor, you'll just have to go off hot mike a lot.

The excessive cockpit noise with an Airman 750 is due to the Mic gain being set too high. It's adjustable. There's a little adjustment screw either on the earpiece (newer model) or the mic boom (older model) that will increase or decrease the mic sensitivity. I've worn my 750's for years and have the gain set down so that it picks up as little cockpit noise as a DC. Whenever I fly with a pilot who has a 750 with the gain set too high, I show him how to adjust it and we solve the problem every time.

I had the Dave Clarks for the first 2 years at XJT and I bought a set of Bose about a year and a half ago.
I'll never go back!
The biggest difference is the comfort.
The bose don't have to squeeze your head to keep the noise out!
They also eliminate a lot of the wind noise up front.

Well...

I've yet to get in the ERJ, but I flown some pretty loud crap in my time, DC H10-13.4's with the Oregon Aero upgrade kit, ~$100, makes them EXTREMELY comfortable to wear on even the longest trips. I do have a DC H20-10X, with the new 9V battery enc. Bough it for an aero commander I used to fly, now I don't need it, if anyone's looking for one, I might sell it?
