I'm headed out to Bermuda at the end of the month and I'm wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations on places to see, and places to stay...Thanks!

I recommend a little hotel called the Pompano Beach Club- it's small but friendly and has it's own pink sand beach. It used to be run by a guy named Larry Lamb. As far as things to do- golf, beach, drink. If your a golfer the courses are fantastic- the MidOcean being one of the best courses in the world. Rent a moped and explore the island, being careful as it's pretty dangerous on the roads. Enjoy the sun, sand, surf and sex!

We stay at the Princess (Fairmont Hotel Chain), the big pink building downtown. It's nice and located with in walking distance to my favorite pub.

I worked for a company that flew a Fedex contract there. I've spent way too much time in BDA a few years ago. We stayed at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort which is in stumbling distance from an awesome bar called the Swizzle Inn. The only trick is to get the local prices on food and drinks, about half off your tab, so you are not ass rammed with tourist prices. Ask the bartender at hte Swizzle if George is still working there. He's not, he was at the White Horse in St. Georges last time I was there. Say he took care of you. That should get you in as a local.

I had a hook-up at a scooter store in St. Georges, I wish I could remember her name to get you good scooters to rent, a necessity.

Two other cool places to visit are Crystal Cave and the cemetary NE of St. Georges. It's cool to visit because it's free and it details the history of yellow fever that almost wiped out the island in the 19th century. North of the airport is are dirt bike tracks that, if you have the guts, you can take your scooter on them and have some fun. I don't think it's legal though.

Have a great time and for god's sake look RIGHT when crossing.

Above is right on, not familar with the rest but I'm sure it is as well.
The mate (very cool) at the A/C services frequents the place (used to?). He is
a scotch connoisseur. *hint* Enjoy.

I'll add to g159av8tor's post.... That same scooter outfit actually has a maintenance and rental building down the path from the Grotto that you can get some good rates, but what ever you do, DO NOT mention Phoenix Air when you go to rent your scooter; you would not get the "good" rates!

Just tell the guys at ASB/BAS (Eugene, Mikael(sp), whoever) that the Phoenix guys sent you and they'll help you find what you need.

That had nothing to do with riding them on the BMX tracks. Well, maybe...

I'll second Pompano

I've stayed at a handful of resorts in Bermuda, Pompano Beach Club is the best of the bunch hands down. The Fairmont Southhampton will charge you for every last thing you do there....and take the fun right out of it. Check out Pompano at www.pompano.bm.
