Hey there,

I'm currently flying a Cheyenne II is the Bendix M4D auto pilot and was wondering if when you manually press the button to disengage the autopilot OR if the autopilot decides to kick off all by itself if there is supposed to be some type of alert to this?

On the 400LS, it does make a noise, as well as in the jets I used to fly.

Currently, the Cheyenne II I fly doesn't make a noise when the autopilot is turned off, either by the pilot OR by the autopilot.

Any suggestions?

I've got a bunch of time in the Cheyenne II, but it's been about 20 years since I last flew one and I don't honestly remember if there's a chime associated the an autopilot disconnect or not. If I were you I'd first go to the AFM and see if they give you any guidance. Following that, I'd call the folks at FlightSafety or one of the other training schools - they'll definately have the correct answer.

I flew a Cheyenne II with this auto pilot for about 4 years. I don't remember any type of warning upon disconnect.

I just popped my Cheyenne II cherry not too long ago, but there's no warning at all as far as I can tell.
