Got a question for you guys. Back in High School (1997), I was at a party that got broke up by our city's fine police. They gave everyone a breath test and gave out minor in consumption tickets. Needless to say I got one. I went to court, paid a fine, did 8 hours community service and it was then dropped from my record. I am now applying to some of the regional airlines and was wondering if this is something I need to put on the background info of the application. Any info wpuld be great .

Thanks, TT

Someone I know with a MIP and a suspended license for wreckless driving (over 100 mph) (seperate occasions) is in a newhire groundschool right now. Both incidents happened many years in the past. Don't make new mistakes in the present by lying or trying to cover things up.

Also, despite what you may think about you record being "clean," EVERYTHING in on a record somewhere, and with the post 9-11 paranoia and the media's strange relationship with pilots, I would imagine airlines are digging up all the info they can.

Just be honest, fess up, and talk about the lesson you learned.

Trust me dude in the information age you can rest assured that the airline will get access to it. You do have the right to view any document that is requested for your background search.

Someone just got hired at MESA with 2 DUIs on his record. Over 15 years ago. Dont let it stand inbetween you and your integrity. The airline will already know before they ask you. Just say I was young dumb and full of cum.

Guys ... I know I sound like a broken record, but here it is again:

Your Federal report will include everything you have ever done ... PERIOD. Every minor brush with the law above traffic tickets, even if not a conviction, is there. Any so-called 'expungement' or infraction as a minor is on it ... EVERYTHING. In case an airline pulls it, I imagine it'd be a good thing to know that you were totally above board on your apps.

Best of luck ...

Is there a way to take a look at one's Federal report? That way there will be no surprises when the interview comes around.

OH, uh, I just got another speeding ticket. Do I have to report this to the FAA?? Not dui, just speeding. Not that fast, either. I swear it was the other car, man. I mean, how fast do you think this VW can go??

You can get a full Federal report from your local Sheriff's department or PD, but this isn't one of those website reports or the courthouse report you can pay $5 for. This is the full federal file. The way folks I know who want to get a looksee at it when they don't know anyone in the department, is by applying for a concealed weapons permit and asking to see the report then.

Many people will be amazed when they get a look at it. :D
