Looking for operating costs for a beech 18,
anyone know a ballpark figure, or can you point me in the right direction on the web?
Thanks

Fuel Burn 50 GPH speed 150Kts
R-985 about 25K each now for an overhaul with a TB) of 1200 hours if they make it,
Prop Ham Stan or Hartzell 3 blade O.H. about 8000 each
Airframe Maint is pretty basic and comes to about $30.00 per flight hour w/o labour
Cost for aircraft now days is the best deal you can get, 20 years ago they ran for about 40K for a cherry.
You will need a full time mechanic for every 50 hours of flight per month.

I've flew a PT6 powered 18 for about 500hrs. We ran about 60gph but at reduced power and 150kts. At that speed/power setting the pt6 will last a long long time before tbo. We were getting 6000hrs or more tbo hot section. Otherwise airframe is the same as tubo quoted.

Depends highly on your Total time, tail wheel time, and Beech 18 time. It won't be cheap. The airplane can be a hand full at low speeds with the tail on the ground. Differential thrust is a must to keep it straight some times. Everyone of ours had been ground looped a time or two.
