BE-30 type

Anyone know where a guy can get a 300/350 type without paying $17,000. Shheesh...at 737 type can be had for $6000. Might have a line on a job, but requires a type in the BE-30. Can't find anything less that $17,000. (FSI, etc.)

No offense Crosscheck, but if your profile is correct a 737 type won't get you a job either. The difference in a 737 and a BE-30 type is that 1 is commonly paid for by the pilot and the other 1 by a company. That's why there is such a price difference. It is based on the ability to pay and corporations have deeper pockets. I have both types and I only paid for 1, and it wasn't the BE-30. Good luck.

My apologies Cross. I miss read your post. I thought you said with a 737 type for less $$ you might have a shot a job. I got my BE-30 type @ Simuflite. It cost around 13K plus expenses. The course is long, too long, at about 19 days. So if you figure expenses @ about $175/day (hotel, rental car, meals) comes out to an extra $3300. I have heard of a designee giving type rides in Midland, TX. No idea on the cost though.

Don't know about the midland designee, but I know both operators there. Basin has a 200 and deer horn has the 300. Might contact them and see what they say.

PanAm's program is far more reasonable being under 10k plus you can save 25% if you bring another pilot with you. HOWEVER, they do not have access to an airplane for the checkride. Good luck

As someone said, don't forget to add in the cost of renting an aircraft for the type ride if you go to Simcom.

Don't forget about the possibility that you might get a SOE limitation on your type rating. If your profile is correct, it will be your first type rating. If you have less than 500 hours PIC Turbine, you are supposed to get 25 hours of Supervised Operating experience in the aircraft AFTER you get the type rating. This may only apply if you get the type in the sim. I'm not sure exactly. You better check it out though before you write that check.

Also, a single pilot type in the 300/350 is supposed to be one of the hardest type ratings to get. I guess because of the workload with no SIC. Three guys in my initial class at FSI were "encouraged" to take the ride with an SIC. Their type ratings are limited to "SIC Required."

To get the SIC required off my type at Simuflight, all you had to do was a V1 cut to a single engine ILS. Took all of 5 minutes. BUt Kingairrick is right ib about the ioe thing. My partner didn't meet the time limits so he had to go to the FISDO after he got the time.
