Sam Taylor's

Big Duke Six said:
What is your impression of Sam Taylor's over at Leetsdale and Cherry? I have eaten there a few times, but it was 4 or 5 years ago now. Have you guys been there recently, and how do they compare to the rest of the BBQ joints in town? They were great back then.
I know the place but have never been there. I heard it's good. I believe it was Sam who used to run the restaurant at the City Park golf course for years. He either lost or gave up the concession or something and opened his restaurant. The place is easy to get to, more or less across the street from the old Cub Foods.
Hey SK and Bobby, I haven't been to Brothers yet, but when I get the chance to go I'll let you guys know! I'd like to be able to put a face to all these great posts...
I'd be up for that!

The best BBQ in the world is Sonny Bryan's in Dallas, Texas.

President Bush used them to cater something down at Crawford when Valdimir Putin was visiting last year, and he was so impressed he had Sonny Bryans come to Moscow for a big thing there.

You gotta love Texas.

Coopers BBQ in Llano, TX is awesome. I always have my students plan their x/c to Llano from SAT. You can use the crew car if available or Coopers will send their van to pick you up. Their are about 8 large BBQ pits outdoors and one serving pit with every kind of dead flesh one can imagine. It is indescribably delicious.

Check out this link to a students website for details.

Best BBQ

Dreamland Ribs in Tuscaloosa, AL. They also have a location in Birmingham and I think one in Mobile, but the original is still the best. "Ain't nothin' like 'em nowhere" is their motto.

Also, it's pretty far off the beaten track, but Bad Brad's in Pawhuska, OK is pretty good.

There used to be a place in Dallas over on Lover's Lane called Zeus that had incredible bbq, but it closed down a few years ago. Sonny Bryan's is probably the best going now.

Corky's in Memphis was pretty good from what I remember.

For a chain operation that doesn't truly operate as a Barbeque restaurant, Damon's Grill is really good. There is one down the road from AVP.

Stutt's BBQ in Tulsa was pretty good, a small mom and pop operation. Kinda smoky in there too. :)

The very best chain BBQ I have ever had comes from the Texas Tumbleweed. It's good and I mean really good. As far as I know, they don't have any locations outside of the midwest so I'm having an incredible jonzing right now... On Wednesdays you can get all-you-can-eat spare ribs...;) :D
