BBJ/Gulfstream Capt. Position in LAS

Just read in today's WSJ that an opening exists for a BBJ/Gulfstream (G1159) Captain - must be willing to relocate to Las Vegas. Requires 6,000 hrs TT, international experience and types on BOTH aircraft... Whatever happened to training for highly-qualified (at least hours) pilots? I suppose mainline furloughees with 737NG experience would qualify - if they also have previous Gulfstream experience...

Anyone know more about this position and operation? Any thoughts?

I just read about another position looking for a Citation/Global pilot in the SF Bay area. ONLY former Air Force or Navy pilot's need apply! Nothing at all against our fine men and women in uniform, but why not narrow your options even further?

I believe the MD87 left a couple of years ago with the MGM-Mirage merger...............at least that's who owns it now.

Isn't the G1159 (they refer to in the ad) really a GV? I remember going to recurrent with a couple of their pilots a few years ago, but I can't remember if it's a GIVSP or a GV.

A G-IV is a G1159C.

I don't think a G-V has ever been called a G1159-Anything.

My type rating states GIV, and so did the airworthness certificate, I believe.

G1159C may have been an inhouse Gulfstream id..............hey GVFlyer, what's the answer?

O.K. I just looked on the WSJ online and couldn't find the ad for the pilot position. Can someone post the information? There were a could of other pilot jobs online though. What is a BA-125? A Hawker?

My Type says GV

I believe the 1159C refers to the aircrafts TCD. The G5' type certificate data sheet is just a carry over from the original G's.

I thought that I saw the MD80 (N711SW) not too long ago.

Yea..........so does my GV type I guess in my earlier post I should have asked: shouldn't the G1159 in the ad refer to a GIV or GV type rating instead?

As for N711SW.................time does fly by because that was a DC9-15 they owned back in the '80's. They bought N721EW (DC9-87) in the '90's and now it's N721MM with the new owner.

G1159

The G1159 type covers the GII, GIIB, and GIII (both AC and DC planes). Also covers the GII with tip tanks, and the GIISP. I believe the GIV and GV say just that, GIV and GV as far as the types, they may use the actual numbers 4 & 5.

As far as who the job is with ? I have no clue.

Hey Fokkerjet---How about G2 serial number 71? Now that's an old one; it also carried N711SW after it's life with Pfizer. That definitely goes back to the 70's.

BTW, speaking of Gulfstreams, who did you guys sell 514 to?

I'm not sure who bought that one................we usually aren't told that kind of information unless we met the person during the demo flights.

A Hawker by any other name is a 125.

The name given by you guys over there for the HS125 series of Aircraft, bulit by us over here.

I suspect it terminated at the 800 series, (I suspect.)

Then the 1000 was built. Is that still called a Hawker.
