My guess is #1800-1850. It's a paycut for any captain. $60k - 72k/yr, most guys here 2+ yrs will probably wait for upgrade. Though I guess since you can't be seatlocked from upgrade, who knows?

I'd put money on that too, it'll go right around a Nov '04 hire date. 60K + overtime and holiday and all those extended days, 100K ain't bad for a two year employee, dam, wish I would've hired on a year earlier.

I thought the BBJ's hardly flew. I was talking to a crew at breakfast in IAD and they were planning dinner. I asked how they could do that and they told me they never flew.

no way would i go to the bbj. You know how boring it gets sitting in hotels the whole tour because you never fly. No thanks.

Well we'll see what happens soon, the bid for 1 BBJ FO was posted Nov 30th and closes Dec 8th.

If they're not flying a lot than you could still make around 80 grand on the reserve schedule with a few holidays and extended days. On the 7 day schedule 65K should be feasible, not bad for not flying much.

You would be seat locked for two years Grump, the bid post states "Locks shall not apply for bidding into the BBJ program"

I believe the seat lock waiver for upgrade is only on your initial seat lock.

5.3(a)(i) Equipment locks do not restrict New Hire First Officers from bidding and being awarded their first Captain position in any aircraft type.

5.3(a)(ii)(2)...the seat lock will not restrict the First Officer from bidding and being awarded a Captain position in any aircraft

5.3(a)(iii)(3)...the seat lock will not restrict the First Officer from bidding and being awarded a Captain position in any aircraft.

5.3(b)A Crewmember who bids and is awarded a Captain position or a First Officer position shall incur a two (2) year equipment and seat lock from the date of the bid award. Equipment locks shall not apply for bidding into the BBJ program.

You cannot be locked out of upgrade, and your quote means you will be released from equipment locks if you bid into the BBJ program. Although, on reading more closely, you may be locked out of upgrade for 2 years if you were to bid into another SIC slot. Interesting. The Blue Book is not clear on this, just refers one to the contract.
