For those who know ASE (Aspen, CO): Is it possible for the BBJ to operate into / out of that field? I thought not- but I have another pilot friend who says "yes".

Thanks,

Bruce.

Performance wise it is possible. BUT, the airport will not allow them there. Mostly due to ramp space. A G5 or Global takes up a lot of amp space there. And they have closed the airport at times due to lack of available ramp space. And I am not sure if the runway is stressed for the BBJ.

Just an additional FYI -

When I dispatched at Air Wisconsin, our tailored jepp charts for our overhead visual to 15 stated, in big bold type, 'WARNING - LOSS OF TERRAIN CLEARANCE WILL RESULT WHEN THE MISSED APPROACH GO-AROUND SPEED EXCEEDS 130 KIAS'.

Good thing we only flew the Bae-146 into ASE.

Yes, you can get a BBJ into ASE. There is a 100,000lbs limit single truck(wheel). The ramp is stressed for 150k. The approach is not to bad even in WX.

I had seen a DC-9 in there a couple of times. I left ASE prior to the BBJ coming out in force, so I did not see one up there. You will pay a lot to have it sitting up there or they may ask you to park it in RIL, GJT, DEN.

If your friend has a BBJ that he wants to take into ASE, PM I will be more than happy to show him the ropes of getting in and out safely. I spent 4 years living and flying out of ASE.
