This place gets worse and worse. Some of us actually like the 'adult' banter. Too many hurt feelings around here. I'm on other boards that arent moderated to death like this place. FI is certainly dying a slow death. These bans and surreptitious post removals are incredibly lame. Many of the posts removed were hardly extraneous or offensive. I guess banter and humor are no longer considered acceptable around here.

I've seen one of the mods here call a user an ass. How come he/she didn't ban him/herself? The mods only get respect because they use their higher power of banment to gain some sort of respect.
This site is a joke, and should be treated as such. Pure entertainment...

I don't know what took place to initiate this thread, and it does not matter to me, going after mods that volunteer their time after being recommended by former MODS and members and then choosen by the FI owners does not sit well with any of us, but..

Go figure, out of several thousand members, the majority on this thread have been suspended... thats a surprise, huh... and as for the mod calling someone a jackass.. well that was me and I did give myself 10 days off.. and posted it as such at the time..

If some of the conversations and topics did not erode to the point of childish banter or end up in threats, name calling and exposed names, there would not be the suspensions and deleted threads.. ALL of which were violations of the FI Terms Of Service...

As for some of you that openly admit to enjoying this type of thing and wish things here were different, I would suggest you submit your names in a PM to any of the mods and we can certinaly expedite your problem and make sure you wont have to put up with FI again...

But thanks for setting the record with your own words, it makes it easier now to 86 you for good the next time one of you decide to blantantly ignor the rules here...

You like the non-aviation section Amish, i'm glad you have found your FI happy place... but that as you know, is an area with little moderation if any and enjoys freedoms not allowed anywhere else on FI.. this a directive from the FI owners..

I think this forum has achieved equalibrium. Consider:
-This industry has taken it in the nuts for nearly a decade
-Most here have suffered personally, as a result
-As this relates to both our passions and our career, emotions run high
-The individual pilots behave bad enough both here and in the real word, get them together as a group (unionized) or allow them near anonymity and human nature takes over.

This is unsuprising but still sad. Humans have not evolved much and I don't expect us to in my lifetime. I suggest either staying away from FI when you are not getting anything positive from it, growing thicker skin, getting and making use of a permit to carry a concealed firearm and always have a plan to kill everyone you meet. That and utilizing the Golden Rule will help you in your daily interactions. Trust me.

Yes, I gave someone a BRIEF F.I. vacation a couple days ago because of personal attacks combined with profanity. They're not banned.

I do the same thing when required to anyone ELSE that crosses the line. If that makes me lame, hey, I've been called worse, and I have thick enough skin to shrug, say "whatever", and go on about my day. Not very concerned about what some anonymous forum flame baiter has to say about it, to tell you the truth.

What I *DO* care about is trying to keep this site at the very least CIVIL. It may be complete farce about 99% of the time, and it certainly gets WAY off the reservation when it comes to the original threads but, unfortunately, some of the pilots on this forum evidently lack the professionalism to police themselves, and I'm not going to apologize about making sure it doesn't denigrate into a COMPLETE mud slinging.

If you don't like it, email the website owner: [email protected] If he doesn't respond, then I guess he doesn't agree with you. If he does, I'll gladly turn in my moderator hat and have more time to go do other things.

I enjoy having a good time, joking around, even instigating a little from time to time in JEST. I do NOT, however, agree with inciting people to get irritated just as a way to get your jollies off. If that's your game, you can go into non-aviation chat where we pretty much don't moderate anything unless it becomes racist or contains open threats of physical violence.
