ALPA Statement on Continental Airlines Flight 1404
December 22, 2008
The thoughts of every member of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, are with the passengers, crew and all who were affected by the Continental Airlines accident that took place in Denver over the weekend.

As a party to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) accident investigation, ALPA cannot comment publicly in the news media on issues related to the accident.

Leaders and safety representatives from the Continental MEC are onsite in Denver. The union has sent a team that includes experts from the ALPA Accident Investigation Board, ALPA Engineering and Air Safety Department staff, ALPA Representation Department staff, and ALPA’s Critical Incident Response Program.

ALPA representatives who are on-scene from the Continental MEC are also being supported by ALPA representatives from the Delta, ExpressJet, American Eagle, FedEx Express, and United MECs.

“The union’s response to this tragic accident is a prime example of the ALPA family coming together to support our brothers and sisters,” said Capt. John Prater, ALPA’s president.

Over the coming days and weeks, ALPA will continue to do everything possible to assist with the accident investigation and to support the crewmembers and their families.
