Bing!

The larger question is why in the HELL are you getting a degree from ERAU when you could get a degree from anywhere else and it would be cheaper and more useful?

Transfer now!

The op says he's flying overseas. What university and program do you suggest?

with the coming 2012 pilot hiring it will not matter where it is from and shortly thereafter it won't even matter if you have the degree, because we all know it has nothing to do with the ability to fly an airplane

Shortage? Is that before or after the 5,000 major airline pilots that are furloughed go back to work?

Gup

If you maintain residency here in the US I'd go with a state school that has an online program where you get in state tuition.

As for a program of study, maybe something like math, engineering, computer science or anything but a degree in 'management'

Gack....

good question, I hear that AAL has gone through a major portion of the their furlougees, like 1200 to get 250 or so back in the saddle. Many of these guys have taken other jobs and built other careers and are not going to take a pay cut late in life to go back to ther major airline. We have a couple major furougees from 2001 lay offs, they are are in the mid 50's making good money, they are not going back to their major job.

You like to hope they won't yip....

do the math, you are now making $100K/yr with raises coming, you are 56, you own a home within driving distance of KYIP. You go back to AAL, F/O pay what $80K, sit reserve for 1-2 years, sit F/O for 6-7 years, you are now 62-63 when you make CA and get to sit reserve again. But then again we are talking about pilots and they don't always make the best choices.

yip is correct... flying airplanes is pretty easy and there is no need for any form of a degree for that job.

Now if you wanted a vetting process then make passing calculus a requirement for an ATP.

That will reduce the number of pilots pretty darn quick and drive up wages. Not that it's necessary but it would reduce the number of idiots in the field ;)

Is this the only thing you ever talk about on FI? Must be easy to just hit paste and submit.

Cynic is a one trick pony.
