Hi everyone,

I am starting to experience the after math back problems of this job . Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good back support pillow or anything that might be portable and effective. Thanks.

I feel your pain brother. I am the proud owner of a microdiscectomy on L4/L5. The extra bonus is now I am working out issues with C6/C7. Any way I digress.
I am presently using a Tempurpedic pillow that fits nicely in the small of your back and also fits nicely in your flight bag. It won't fix all the problems but it helps.
Best of Luck

try working out (not calling you fat) specific back/weight workouts to strengthen you back. Start slow so you don't do the classic over fck. Also I am nowhere near a strong man, but that seemed to help me.

-take care

I've been hauling a Tempurpedic pillow with me since 1999. Best money I ever spent. It fits right into my flight bag next to my Jepps.

Do yoga every day. I had L5-S1 surgery in 2000 and would not be able to move were it not for the flexibility provided by doing yoga. If you want more specific information feel free to PM me. Supports are nice, but if you don't address the source you're in for long term problems.

Greetings... Yoga is an excellent idea.. Also I have been a massage therapist for 11 years and I feel regular massage therapy is extremely beneficial for your overall back health. Try it, you will never regret it.

Take care

As some have already alluded to here, in many cases lower back pain is associated with weak abs.

Thank you all for your time and very valuable information. I will definately do something before it gets worse

I am not a health professional but here is my advise, as you get older your lower back takes a beating, bad posture, lifting improperly etc., you probably have gained some weight and lost muscle mass in legs and stomach, as previously posted, your abdominal muscles are a tremendous support for your back, do a few sit ups everyday, these muscles will build up quickly, in addition, leg squat exercises are very beneficial for a strong back.
