As some have already alluded to here, in many cases lower back pain is associated with weak abs
I am not a health professional but here is my advise, as you get older your lower back takes a beating, bad posture, lifting improperly etc., you probably have gained some weight and lost muscle mass in legs and stomach, as previously posted, your abdominal muscles are a tremendous support for your back, do a few sit ups everyday, these muscles will build up quickly, in addition, leg squat exercises are very beneficial for a strong back.
