Well guys after a month in the Mid East flying in Dubai I am home for a month. I will soon be going back this time working for two months on before coming back to the states for one month off.
I am the guy that based up the NetJets job to go and fly fractionals, just thought I would share a little bit of what my life has been like.
My first week there I flew very little, went out shopping for a place to live, I was told that I had a 30K US allowance for housing and utilities, housing is very expensive there, and the place that I really liked which is in downtown Dubai, right on the Gulf costed about 45K with utilities, boss said no problems, all of the bills are being sent to him. The other 3 weeks out there I was on the road for 14 days. Spent a week in Europe, slept in Paris, London, and Barcelona. Came back to Dubai for a few days, then went to Africa for three days, back to Dubai, then spent four days in Hong Kong. Every day that I was gone I was given 100 dollars US in per-Diem. At the end of the month of flying I stopped in to pick up my pay check, however I guess that thay prefer doing things in cash out there so I was handed an envelope with 12,500 dollars in it and a first class ticket back home. I was also given the choice of taking my 12,500 for my month off either then or when I get back, and because of my lack of being prepared to be paid in cash I did not want to walk out of the office with 25K so I will be paid for my month off when I get back to work.
Now for my impressions, the boss and the owner
are fantastic guys, however when you are there you are somewhat always on call, they do give you two hard days off a week, however with some of our trips going longer then a week they may give them to you on the road, the trips are great, it is like I am always on a vacation, other pilots are greats, flight attendents are gorgeous and friendly, and everyone likes to party on the road. The night life in Dubai is amazing, in the month I have been out there I have always found something to do, people are friendly and the women out there are beautiful beyond all words, and they are very, very fond of Americans. With the money I make I live very, very, very well out there. The money that I am making is not taxed till I reach 87,500 after that I will need to figure out what to do with the money. I will be getting typed on the Legacy in about 8 more months, and my pay will be raised to 18,500 per month.
Right now I am very, very happy with my decision to pass on NetJets and come to the mid east, and I would reccommend this job to anyone young, single, and looking for an adventure while making themselves wealthy. Any questions you have I would be happy to answer.
