Just saw on the news here in Madrid that BA and Quantas are in merger talks. As a CAL pilot I really hope our management team is keeping an eye on this stuff.

Cheers

The merger dance has just started. Many more hook-ups to come.

It's QANTAS not Quantas

Queensland And Northern Territories Air Service

One of the best airlines I've ever been a passenger on!

They mustn't be sober then! Taxes are high but the job itself pays well.

If you can earn over a 100k as a S/O life aint that bad.

Well, looking at the pay scales at APC (they may be wrong, just trusting whats on there), I don't know that i would say they are paid too well, at least compared to USD. Below are per hour hourly. (again, atleast thats whats on APC)

$206 AUD = 131 USD for 12 year 747 captain

$136 AUD = 87 USD for 12 year 747 first officer

$106 AUD = 68 USD for 1st year FO (not too bad compared to what the states have)

I don't care too much for them (Qantas) but APC is wrong i think.

Don't think many people from over here will be getting on with them anyhow so its a mute point.

I interviewed at a startup in that neck of the woods earlier and there was guys lining up from United to be paid 150k as a 777 type rated skipper.

I'd call that low.
