Just taking an informal poll on where the most senior E190 bid will go? I'm thinking a pilot somewhere around #800 will be in the top tier. Of course I'd love it if it would go more senior to help speed up my 320 upgrade, but I'm guessing it won't.

....and yes, I think the pay is pathetic, so no need to go down that road.

They are starting staffing at the most junior levels, that way new pilots can learn to clean on the smaller equipment.

Hi airbaker,

From what I have heard there might be around 30 to 40 pilots ahead of me bidding the 190. We might all be surprised of the results come May, 14.

I was called by my employer this morning and told not to report for my duties for the next few days. I did not get much info but they told me the FAA is reviewing my file because of "operating the cockpit in an immoral way".

What is this BS and what could it mean? Basically, I am on a paid suspension.
.....

I think your going to see it go more senior than you think. guys in the low 600's are talking about bidding it. Not sure how many but should be interesting.

Anyone have any insight on what numbers will go to training this year? As opposed to next year.

Not Me!

I am aroud the 700 number in seinority and because of the very small increase in pay over a A-320 F.O, I am not even going to consider it. Good luck to all that do. I have just decieded that it is not in my best interest to bid for that equipment. I hope for everybody's sake that everything goes well with the 190 program and that it is a great sucess.

I hope the E190 will be a success or else many of us will be typing up our resumes again. Other carriers will be watching us thrive or fall on our faces. Have spoke to many regarding the viability/dynamics of a 100 seater for a LCC and have received different opinions. All we can hope is that the brain trust at Forest Hills know what they're doing. As pilots all we can do is do what we do best and what we've always done; show up to work on time and move the A/C safely and efficiently from A to B to C... Keeping my fingers crossed on this one. I think the bid will go relatively senior, the bottom guys will be in the high 800's. Let's save the super low pay topic for a different thread.

Sorry, but how can you save the pay issue for a different topic and question the success of the EMB190 in the same paragraph. The pay is what will make this a/c a success. I think you'll thrive with this a/c as long as you have pilot's willing to fly it at that wage. It's great though that most of you on the property really won't have to "deal" with it all that long. When the music stops and your pilots are stuck at that wage with no prospect of the bus (granted, that'll probably be a while) I think your group will be a lot more vocal about it.

I know that I'll ruffle feathers with this post. I do like the Blue product. I do like the people approach to the employee group there at Jetblue from Neeleman and the gang but this has to be a real set back to employee relations.

Hey C77MD80:

I agree with you 100% on the pay issue for the E190. It was just for the sake of simplifying the individual topics and to have a separate discussion regarding the pay issue. We as a pilot group always need to be making forward progress regarding compensation/QOL, etc... & yes, many junior pilots will be left without a chair to sit in when the music stops in a few years. That has to be addressed as well. I always welcome an actual contract with strong language that has the best interests of the pilots. Many pilots here come from ALPA carriers; I think we have the experience and the fortitude to make a positive impact here. The pay is on everyone's mind. Fight one battle at a time. In my biased opion as a pilot you can't pay a pilot enough money for what we do but we don't get paid for what we're worth; we get paid for what we negotiate and what the market will bear. I don't drink the Blue Kool-Ade blindly.

How many of you JetBlue guys have actually flown on an E170? Have you even looked at one up close?

It's a great airplane (I have hitched a ride on many) and I think it would be fun to fly - at least that's what I have heard from the pilots flying them. Why fly an Airbus for the rest of your career? If I were in your position and the money difference were NOT too great (that's a big consideration - don't get me wrong), I'd go for the E190 for at least a few years... You can always return to the Airbus later. That Proline Epic flightdeck looks pretty nice...

I think there is a possibility E190 awards will make it way down in the seniority list past 800. Those guys won't train until next summer sometime and then be locked in for 2 years. Might not be a bad deal for some depended on their priorities-QOL vs. $$.

If I were on the bubble and had the option, I'd go for it. Sounds like the computer glitches found in the 170 have mostly been worked out. I think I read that the equipment lock is only two years. I get bored when I sit on one aircraft type for too many years.... I am sure the Airbus is very nice, but the prospect of sitting on that aircraft type for the rest of my career would be a little daunting... It would accelerate the "jaded" factor. I like the new technology and flying the latest and greatest - just my opinion. Some people couldn't care less...

I say get some 190 time if you have the chance - maybe you'll like it much better than the Bus...

The E190 bid went very well. Everyone that wanted it got it within the contstraints of their percentage bid restrictions.

There were no junior guys on property that got shut out.

Any questions just ask,

Chaz

I received the same info earlier today. A friend who didn't think it would get down to him actually got the left seat with a top thirty percent bidding status.

Congrats my friend,
enigma

PS now you get to start studying. HA:p

It went all the way down to the schoolhouse! There are folks in initial A320 class as we speak that were awarded E190 Captain slots. Of course, they will be FO's on the Airbus until they go to class for the E190 but it worked out great for them for sure.

Good for them. Now let's hope the pay improves someday...
