We understand there's been a renewed effort to make TSO headsets mandatory. Notice the performance of the TSO'd headsets (all but ours).

Our TSO is coming, but we actually had to DEGRADE the performance to meet the TSO performance specs. Specs were written in the 50s.

Worst case, crunch the old telex at the bottom of the flightbag and now you have a "backup", then just use the superior headset day-to-day.

We're still fighting with Bose, so here's how we're keeping them from submarining our TSO:

Yes, the UFM + QC2 were TSO tested (and passed), but we only use the QC2 as a mechanical headband that just happens to have audio & ANR capability. We're getting it TSO'd in that configuration. Audio is also available by plugging an earbud into the mini-jack on our adapter. It works independently of the QC2 so Bose can't change one electronic component and void our TSO.

We're hoping for June coming up, but that is probably optimistic when dealing with the FAA.

They seem to be pretty busy of late.

I'll be the first to pick up the new UFM adapter once it's all TSO'd. It's ridiculous, but I do see the reasoning. There are always or usually backups anyways on the flt. deck. Someone just didn't pay the right people. =)

Our company just joined all the other sheep in the flock by banning the uflymike product based on absolutely no knowledge rather than risk the FAA's wrath. Nevermind the fact that the form fit earbud Telex that everyone uses violates TSO as well since they are altered from their original. Maddening.
