Freightdog75 said:Are new hires going to PHL, ORF? How many of them? Thanks
dardar said:Internal recs and 135/121 experience. It's the Fedex of regionals. They hired a bunch of CFIs a while back, but I don't think that'll happen again anytime soon.
dardar said:Well, I didn't mean it like that. I meant it more in terms of needing inside help getting in and the experience required.
Terrain Terrain said:ok, then i misunderstood you, i thought you were saying awac was like the best of the worst.
anyhow. later (retract a$$hole statement)

RES in PHL...I get to fly 1-2 legs per week. Ready Reserve I never flew, I did about 7-8 legs the whole month!!Drill Sgt. Dad said:I am an ex FLYI who got on at Air Wisconsin. I sat RSV one month. I am PHL based. if I stayed in ORF or went to DCA, I'd still be RSV. After 5 1/2 years at FLYI I no longer listen to rumours, nor get my hopes up. i.e. NW flying or the Midwest flying. I just do my job and go home. The morale is low from those who have been here a while and have seen things change. I personally saw mass changes at ACA/IDE. So I am used to being around disgruntled crew members. However, I appluad those pissed off pilots when they get into airplanes they throw those problems out the door and do their jobs. I don't seem to mind it too badly here, except for the first year pay and the schedules are not too good. Niether of my trips are commutable on either end. But this is what it is, a regional airline. If you can learn the system, you can play it to your advantage, if you can't learn the system, you'll be miserable. If you come here, it's up to you how you view working here. As for the attrition, it's still high, I looked at how much I moved up in 5 months and it averages 23 per month are still leaving. Also with just 70 RJs and no BAe 146s, they won't need as many.
As for sitting RSV, if you are RSV FO for now, don't expect to fly much. When I was on RSV for a month and a half, I flew maybe 20 hours. But I have plenty of time in the plane, so I wasn't in danger of not making my 100 hours in 120 days. As for the training. Much more relaxed here than at ACA/FLYI. There are NO training Nazis here and everyone was more than helpful in teaching how AWAC does things. As for IOE, it was odd having more time than my IOE CA, but we both taught each other things. As for the people I have flown with, about the same, everyone is fairly laid back and haven't ran into any egos or bullies yet, although every airline has them. It depends how you can handle them and not show weakness or let them stomp on you. And besides the poor drug prescription program they have here, it really isn't a bad place to work.

What's going on in hiring?
