The 1 thing that kills electronics is heat. This is a great example of someone stepping on 20's to pick up dimes. When the entire avionics stack fails due to heat build up, they are done. They will not come back. The heat transfer from 1 unit to the other units is going to be expensive. When they fail, your boss will say you should have briefed him more throughly on the consequences of the fan's failure as he fires you. Why would you want to work for someone like this anyways, who wants to defer MX on something inexpensive like this?
 
Hmmm, avionics cooling fan or avionics displays and the cooling fan.

Maybe you can get some kind of volume discount on the parts. The labor will be cheap, they have to get in there anyway to change the fan, the display will be out already.

Eeeeh, just hold off until the annual comes up.
