so i got the newsletter, swung over to check it out and i cant seem to get in anymore for free. anyone else having problems logging in under the free link?

If you do choose to pay for access, you will be given priority support on any problem or question you might have.
If you choose to use the free method and have problems logging in or any other problem, we will not offer support

...*sigh* :(

Basically, aviationinterviews.com is no longer free. You are allowed a glimpse at the profile of the interviewee, and the first few lines of their experience posted, but that's it. Anything else, and you must be a paid member.

Just like anything else, you must decide for yourself if the information proviced on the site is worth the price of the membership, $5 a month, or $10 for 3 months on a recurring billing basis.

I guess everyone will have to make that decision for themselves.

Hey guys, I run the site.

First of all you are wrong :)

The site is still 100% free!

Second of all, if you are having log in problems, shoot me an email and I'll take a look. Several people have had problems today and when I use their log in info, everything works just fine. Typically the problem is with their web borwser (specifically problems with their cookies). You must have cookies turned on in order to use the free log in.

Once you do log in, you can still view 100% of everything for FREE!

The reason I set up the pay for access log in in the first place was for those computer illiterate people who do not know what a cookie is, I do not have the time to tell them how to fix their browser 24/7. The reason they get support is they can call a 1-800 number 24/7 and talk to them if they are having problems logging in.

I log in just fine. It's just that when I click on whichever interview experience I want to view, I only get the first few lines of the experience, with the opportunity to "click here to see the rest for free". Do that, and it directs me to another page which explains the philosophy of the site and the fee structure. I assumed this is all I got as a free member. If this is incorrect, then I apologize...but this is how it works whenever I try it.

If I try to use the "old registration" feature and re-register, it tells me someone already has this username. So, I gave up.

Like I said, each person has to decide for themselves if it is worth it. I have my dream job. I wish everyone success in finding theirs.

It sounds like those experiences are stored in your web browser. Are you able to view any experiences at all, or are all of them just the first few lines?
If you could, please email me with your username and I'll try logging in with your user info and see what it does.
Like I said, you probably have the experiences "cached" in your browser, that's why you are not seeing the new ones that the server is sending you.

Shoot me an email at

Which web browser are you guys using?

I'm using Internet Explorer and I'm not having any problems what so ever.

Archer
That explains the problem. The AOL web browser has a very tough time with "sessions". The free log in system is built around sessions. If you use Internet Explorer instead of the AOL browser you should not have any problems. Please let me know if that resolves your issue.

Coex I just tried it with internet explorer it did not work either. I really hope I can continue to use the site. Thanks for your help.

Did you make sure your browser is set to accept cookies?

In Internet explorer go to
Tools
Internet Options
Privacy (tab)
Then set it to accept all cookies.

Give it another try........this time after you log on
hold down the shift key and click the refresh button with your mouse (that will clear the cache stored in your browser)

Let me know what happens.

A few people have emailed me about this today, but 95% of the members are not having a problem. As usual, I want everything to work perfectly, but I can't please everyone :/

I have the same problem as F70 pilot. Once I put in my password it comes into a members area but i dont get that list thats usually there and I can only view the first few lines of the gouge. I dont mind paying but I dont know if thats going to fix it. Coex thanks for your quick respnse I really appreciate it. It is still not working through my AOL or internet explorer, I never had a problem viewing it before today.

Well I did make some changes last night to "enhance" the site, but it looks like they are causing more problems than doing good LOL

I'm trying to change them back now. I just hope I can remember everything that I changed!

Give it another try in an hour or so, the same way you use to get in without a problem. If you still have problems, be sure to email me and let me know so I can de bug this thing :)

Ok, I think I have everything back to the way it was. I had a few people with AOL test it out and all of them got in with no problem :) Hopefully that means it's fixed.
If you did have a problem and it still happens, that is more than likely because the web page is saved in your browser. Go ahead and clear the cache/history in your browser and you should be good to go!

Excellent :)

See what happens when I try to improve things on the site? LOL

I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

There are very few people in the aviation industry doing things for the greater good. I commend you for your efforts COEX. Thanks on behalf of all your users, free and otherwise. ds

Hey thanks, that means a lot! I started this site 2 1/2 years ago to help some friends get jobs, and now look what happened. I helped a whole lot more people than I could have ever dreamed of.
I'm not sure if any of you noticed this, but check it out when you get a chance.

Those of you that paid for access or attended the job fair here in Cleveland last summer, this is where that money is going.....(not in my pocket!)

I'm glad the site is working for most of you again :)

If you have any other problems don't hesitate to email me!

well ill be...its working just fine now. whatever you did coex, thanks! that is one heck of a site you got there. i feel kinda sorry for the old will-fly-for-food site...seems youve pretty well become "the place" to go for interview info.

congrats and thanks again,
