Hi yall. Despite the fact that I have several years one the net, and a DSL at home to make the research easier, I am still trying to find a site with aviation video clips to download. There are dozens of aviation photos sites, of which airliners.net is the king.
I would LOVE to see something as comprehensive as airliners.net with video clips.

The only way to find videos is if you're lucky enough to find a type-club website or perhaps a manufacturer site with mpegs to download. (say, doing a search for "DC-3 videos" on yahoo)

Any ideas?

The problem with hosting a web site with videos is that the videos take up a lot of space which leads to huge amounts of bandwidth consumption (which isn't cheap).

It is also harder to have banner ads pay for even some of the bandwidth videos use. One video of 5MB might be equal to 100 jpeg photos. So while airliners.net might show 100 photos and 100 banner ads, if they hosted a 5MB video, they only get to show one banner ad.

I have always thought about starting a aviation video site that charges a nominal fee, but the problem is that a lot of the owners of the videos can't be tracked down easily.

The monthly fee wouldn't be that much. Maybe $3-$5/person would be enough to break even.

Here's some classic footage of a Eastern Airlines flight from New York to Miami in a Connie, circa 1950. I love it when the crew lights up cigars enroute and shuts down and feathers three out of four engines. I tell ya, I was born fifty years too late...
