Looking for new info on Averitt Air Charter. I did a search and saw some old info and am wondering how things are going there now? Did they recently furlough pilots? Several post said things are going down hill fast...is that still the case and if so, what is going on? How is Averitt to work for? How is the pay and the schedules? Thanks in advance for any info.

A while back things didn't look so good... the company did some pretty massive restructuring of their fleet a while back, got rid of all the 20-series Lears, replaced it with a few 35's and 31a's. I believe a few guys got laid off and a bunch of their pilots went elsewhere in the last month or so which is what prompted their Lear Captain ad.

The maintenance is rock solid, the aircraft are in excellent shape, the pay is pretty decent for the area (I believe around 30k for an f/o, 55k or so for a CA, haven't talked to any of their guys in a year), and they aren't going away anytime soon... they ran off or bought out most everyone else and present a really polished package. The management isn't the easiest to work for and the schedules are typical 135 stuff (no real guaranteed days off), but all-in-all you could do a LOT worse in the non-sched 135 Lear world.

If you want some info on Averitt Air PM Me.. I was a Captian there for 3 years. There was a big departure of pilots the 1st part of this year. I know of 3 captains that left for Flight Options. They also layed off 3 pilots (2 Captains 1 F/O ) Jan of this year. It has good and bad to work there. Planes and basic operation are 1st class. As 135 goes they are great. But pay and schedules are not the best. When I started it was awesome. They just kept taking things from us, Pay, Schedule, Per Deim.. things like that. Now if you start there and never have them you might love it there..

Good Luck
Tom

Who was the brain surgeon that took away all the bennies? (T.T. ?)There's a lot you can do to a pilot, but when you start taking money out of their pocket and/or kill their quality of life, they're going to find something else to do (which is why I left Nashville Aero Charter for Flexjet back in '97).

Did you guys go to the top of the food chain over there and let them know what was going on and what the result would be? Did they make a management change after the mass exodus or just attribute it to some other, unrelated coincidence and keep on screwing people (like just about every management group at that level has a tendency to do)?

It was not (T.T.) his role was not to take things from us. It was the Top of the Food chain that took things from us, and yes we informed him of the results of his actions. It went in one ear and out the other. Averitt is a 1st class operation with some upper mgmt problems that will not go away unless they close down.

Tom

PS Did you spend a little time at a 121 Operator in MEM?

Hey Tom, how's it going man? :D

I'm STILL "doing time" at that Part 121 operator in MEM and wondering what I did in a past life to warrant this cruel and unusual... LOL. I've been DTW-based since I started here about 2 1/2 years ago after Express One (727 op in DFW) shut down but still live over by Priest off Elm Hill Pike (no one in their right mind chooses to live in DTW - kidding... kinda).

Was thinking about going by and offering to help pick up the slack in the 25 over at Averitt on my off-days since they're so desperate, but don't know if they'd pay what I'd want to get for it... I miss the 25, it was a lot of fun!

What's new with you and what are you up to these days?

-Rich

I am flying 20 series here in Smyrna. Things are good. Would like something more stable, but we will see what time brings over here..

Hey guys...thanks for the info. Rich...this is my question for you...I am in the same boat you are, even more than you realize. Would you leave 9E for Averitt? JH called me a few weeks ago and said he would be getting back in touch with me for an interview in a few days. Never heard a word back. Another 9E pilot that used to work for Averitt said that he heard that the new pay scale is about $112/hour with no expenses paid, all contract work. Any truth to that? Thanks for the info
