This photo is for real--it happened in PHX in 1989 or 1990. A DC 8 taxied from the cargo ramp & departed on rwy 8 on a saturday morning. A few minutes later he was on final for rwy 8 with the cargo door wide open. I know it's a true photo because I was there with a CV 440 picking up a load of freight & watched it happen. The door was shut when he took off--the crew probably didn't secure the door. I don't remember who the operator was but I heard later on that the flight engineer was fired for the incident.
