Avatar Question

Can anyone tell me how to make custom avatar pics sharper (higher res?). I used the web-based avatar-maker that someone had posted on a previous "avatar question" thread and it did ok, but I've noticed that most of the others I see here are much clearer images. Thanks in advance.

Only as long as you promice to keep the picture of Chopper, and not put a picture up of one of those goons Chris Pronger or Keith Tkachuk.

unfortunately the avatar size is fixed to something like 150x150 pixels, can't really sharpen a fixed pixel image unfortunately best you can do is find a larger image and resize it so you get the detail you want in the fixed size
