OK done.... But let the record show that someone else brought up lack of keeping up with inflation on a thread that dealt with ASA flying RJs to UND and Parks....

Thread hijacking is OK if you use it to bash the current negotiating situation we find ourselves in, but not if you want to question the WHY we find ourselves in it...

Back on topic, entry level Suck$ at all regionals.... Since it is just a stepping stone to Nirvana however, people will line up at the door, then continue to b!tch after they get through the door....

Come on Joe......enough already! While I agree with a lot of what you have to day regarding failings of scope (coming from PDT) you know darn well why we are where we are on 700 rates. We are already well above DCI rates for 70's (please don't say Horizon, you know their rates don't apply to ASA/DCI)

As a former 700 FO, I knew darn well there would not be much of an increase in pay, as ASA 70 FO's are the highest paid in the industry. I was hoping for a small increase in hourly rate, and the ability to make more with a bonus plan, rigs, and a more liberal trip swapping system.

I got to look in a brand new Pinnacle CRJ back in early 2000 I believe. Whoop-dee-doo! I think UND has a CRJ full-motion sim anyway. If I was a student there, I wouldn't care much. But then again I wouldn't have gone there in the first place!

I think ASA already sent one down to Florida earlier this week. I saw one with 99xx flight numbers skipping around to VRB, DED, DAB, MLB, etc. Hopefully they didn't send down regular line pilots to give all these prospective new hires an earful!

No motion, a level 6 sim I believe. Quiet possibly the worst thing UND has ever done in terms of spending money and requiring students to participate in.

I'm not bitter about that stupid thing though....

ACA pulled a similar stunt in the late 90's at ERAU DAB campus. They parked a brand new CRJ on the ramp next to all the seminoles and pipers. I think it might have had something to do with a bridge program they had at the time. I don't blame the guys who take the jobs but I think the FAA needs to step in and set a higher minimum standard to fly 121. Maybe not an ATP but in line with 135 PIC mins. I've heard more than one person say this winter is going to get ugly when 1/2 the FO's have less than 500 hours and 1/2 the Captains upgraded within the last year. This is one big experiment we're running here and and all it takes is one crash blamed on crew inexperience and it will blow the lid off this whole thing. The flying public might be apathetic about a lot of things but safety is not one of them. Throw in a little media fed hysteria and look out. So far it hasn't manifested itself in a higher accident rate but we've only just begun to see the effects of widespread hiring of low time FO's and high attrition of experienced Captains at the regionals. I don't want to say the sky is falling but it does seem we're setting up for a "perfect storm" scenario. Let's all hope for a mild La Nina winter this year.

Congress isn't doing any favors by increasing the retirement age to 65. That is pure economics in favor of the airline industry and our national transportation system.

I'm sure lots of guys are going to bail early, but my question is how does that work in terms of their retirement bennies (ie pension, 401K, ira's etc..)

Pilot Mentor?????

ASA will be bringing a CRJ200 to UND and Park College on tuesday, 9/25/07. There will be Line Check Pilots, Recruiters, and Line Pilot Mentors along as well.

Aircraft will be powered up and available to tour, and questions answered in the AM at UND and PM at Park.

For all of you haters...this is just to allow folks to have a look and ask some questions.

I don't think I have ever heard of a "Line Pilot Mentor" Is this something mouseboy just made up.....? Maybe someone is getting this confused with a FA mentor (which went away long ago.) BTW-how much do you think this waterhaul costs? Solving the contract would totally elminate our problems finding people.

DC8Flyer and Booker you are both wrong. The "laptop" program at UND is the biggest scam they run. You pay about 5 times what the same laptop is worth at the store....the sim is a close second though.

That is an EXCELLENT idea. That would certainly embarass the heck out of ASA. The problem would probably be getting permits close enough.

Picket? Why? It's not like ASA is scabbing out or taking anyone elses flying for lower rates such as(insert your airlines name here). This is the same old recruiting effort that a lot of airlines do whenever they are getting short on people. If you want to picket, hit up a Mesa, Shaniqua or GoJet recruiting event.
