ASA will be bringing a CRJ200 to UND and Park College on tuesday, 9/25/07. There will be Line Check Pilots, Recruiters, and Line Pilot Mentors along as well.

Aircraft will be powered up and available to tour, and questions answered in the AM at UND and PM at Park.

For all of you haters...this is just to allow folks to have a look and ask some questions.

And to inspire the SJS!

From a SemenHole to a CRJ!

Boy you can tell the industry is hurting if they are firing up a RJ with Recruiters to fly into schools!!

Now is the time to demand higher pay.....

Good Luck to you Folks at ASA on your new contract!

UND guys are great pilots and much better to fly with than the cocky white sun glass wearing punks from FL

Say what you want about these aviation universities, but when was the last time an airline stopped by the local FBO with an RJ and recruiters looking for pilots?

When was the last time an airline used an RJ to fly to an aviation school? Believe me, ASA most be short to pull a revenue aircraft off line to fly to a school.

Its the start of a supply and demand problem..... Lots of Suppy and no Demand!

All that you need to fly one of these CRJs is a commercial multi certificate. But you would probably make more money flight instructing.

But our System Chief Pilot (or what ever S. Hall's title is) told us 2 weeks ago that we were overstaffed! He wasn't telling the truth?

The UND guys I know are great. Good opportunity.

Just make sure you are getting a degree in something worth while. ASA stinks, and the industry will not treat you well. Have a back up.

I know a few UND guys as well and they are great people..

My advice is to only come to ASA after you've been turned down by all other options.

Anyone who chooses a company that refuses to offer pay increases to keep up with inflation and is on the brink of a strike is a fool.

I got to look in a brand new Pinnacle CRJ back in early 2000 I believe. Whoop-dee-doo! I think UND has a CRJ full-motion sim anyway. If I was a student there, I wouldn't care much. But then again I wouldn't have gone there in the first place!

I think ASA already sent one down to Florida earlier this week. I saw one with 99xx flight numbers skipping around to VRB, DED, DAB, MLB, etc. Hopefully they didn't send down regular line pilots to give all these prospective new hires an earful!

ACA pulled a similar stunt in the late 90's at ERAU DAB campus. They parked a brand new CRJ on the ramp next to all the seminoles and pipers. I think it might have had something to do with a bridge program they had at the time. I don't blame the guys who take the jobs but I think the FAA needs to step in and set a higher minimum standard to fly 121. Maybe not an ATP but in line with 135 PIC mins. I've heard more than one person say this winter is going to get ugly when 1/2 the FO's have less than 500 hours and 1/2 the Captains upgraded within the last year. This is one big experiment we're running here and and all it takes is one crash blamed on crew inexperience and it will blow the lid off this whole thing. The flying public might be apathetic about a lot of things but safety is not one of them. Throw in a little media fed hysteria and look out. So far it hasn't manifested itself in a higher accident rate but we've only just begun to see the effects of widespread hiring of low time FO's and high attrition of experienced Captains at the regionals. I don't want to say the sky is falling but it does seem we're setting up for a "perfect storm" scenario. Let's all hope for a mild La Nina winter this year.

We aren't even asking for a pay increase on the 700 that keeps up with inflation? Why is that?

Shoo Joe, shoo!

Everybody else, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

Sorry..... Keeping up with inflation is important.... Just curious why the 700 rate isn't keeping up with inflation.... Why aren't we even asking for a rate that keeps up with inflation?

I know, I know.... quit questioning the status quo.... Just blindly accept it and bitch and moan about how bad we have it here......

It's hard being lemming road kill......

Nope, none of that. Just bring up your own thread if you want to B%tch and we'll all ignore it. The only way you can get attention is to butt into other people's conversations.

OK done.... But let the record show that someone else brought up lack of keeping up with inflation on a thread that dealt with ASA flying RJs to UND and Parks....

Thread hijacking is OK if you use it to bash the current negotiating situation we find ourselves in, but not if you want to question the WHY we find ourselves in it...

Back on topic, entry level Suck$ at all regionals.... Since it is just a stepping stone to Nirvana however, people will line up at the door, then continue to b!tch after they get through the door....

That didn't take long.

I am simply passing along a little information for those who would like to know.
