I appreciate the rides in the past and you're always welcome on us. Last week I was stuck in LGA trying to get to YUL beacause three crews showed up without the Flight Deck Coupon (T410), which is required for off line pilots to travel.

Is it common to be short of these forms?

Is there a way to place a call in advance to ensure that the flight crew carry these forms?

Thanks for the help in advance!

This is a fairly common occurance. I had it happen to me a couple times when I tried to jumpseat with Air Canada in the past.

There is a 1-800 # where you can talk to Air Canada crew schedulers, they will list you as a standby on the flight, give you a ~ estimate of the loads, and even notify the captain. I don't have it handy - you might be able to access it through the ALPA jumpseat guide.

Fortunately??? for me, whenever I tried jumpseating for Air Canada, there was always a US carrier serving the route. In the case of LGA-YUL, I might've tried American Eagle, USAir Express, or Delta Connection, I believe all of whom fly the route (at least they did when I last hitched a ride between those cities).

The sad reality is that unfortunately the rest of the world's pilots don't jumpseat with nearly the regularity of US pilots, and that sometimes they just aren't prepared to handle us. :-)
