The final push for in-house union orgnization is on the way. January 14 there will be a JBPA meeting (JetBlue pilots assotiation) in JFK.
The constitution and bylaws,Policy Manual, interim leadership, markeing materials and marketing campaing will be approved there.

be there, is your union your company, your representation.

there are a lot of things we can improve at JetBlue to make it a career airline.

get involved, volunteer.do not believe the anti-unon rethoric being thrown around by a few "I got mine " guys and Harrison and Ford ( company hired union busting firm).

be there , listen in, vote, help organize, spread the word.

Excellent news. Glad to see that you guys are moving forward with representation. Of course, I would prefer if it were ALPA, but any representation is better than no representation. Good luck on the organizing campaign.

Please not trying to incite a flame war, but is there any worry about the organizers not getting their contracts renewed?

Anybody that take offense to this, please re read the first 8 words. I am just curious about how that will play out.

Thats not an option under our contract. They must renew the contract barring an excuse to fire you... (alcohol, multiple training failures, willfully destroying company property... stuff like that).

Only the things that get you fired from your airline would cause a contract to not renew. Oh yeah... and if the company finds an excuse to fire the guys heading up the union push, what do you think that would do to the rest of us that may be sitting on the fence?

Why would they join a toothless, cowering, impotent union that ignores the majority of the membership on the most important issue of the day?

An in-house union is clearly a better way to go.

I agree with your last sentance about the fence sitters. But I would always wonder how ignorant management would be to that very issue in their quest to keep the airline union free.

You forgot money grubbing, dues raping, National officer pocket lining.

ALPA is the only union that has observer status at ICAO. The fact is the aviation industry has gone global. Not having a voice in national and international affairs is quite myopic....

In house is a step in the right direction, however, people like flygirlqt, would rather fight to change something that she doesn't understand than fight to increase her pay and work rules...

The fact that ALPA is a part of this thread says something....

LET'S KEEP THIS TREAD ON TARGET,
let's not bring Alp into this.

www.jetbluepilots.org it is the JBPA web site, ( jetblue pilots association) register, the meeting is on jan 14, be there, do not be intimidated .

I understand perfectly what is occurring REZ. The mere fact that you personally could care less that national officers are lining their pockets with your hard earned money is something that only you can deal with.

If you like funding these salaries that is certainly your choice but I do not have to agree with it. Unlike you, I prefer licking other things than ALPA National officers shoes.

Just because I am disgusted with where my dues are going means nothing about what I want for myself or my fellow pilots. To make such a statement is so incredibly foolish it merits no discussion.

It is interesting how defensive you get about such an obvious travesty.

I'm not trying to flame, either, but is this a REAL AFL-CIO type union like ALPA, Teamsters, etc., or is this a "union" like Skywest has?

skywest has no union, they have a group of pilots that talk to management about issues but they are not a union. at JB there is a similar paper tiger called the pvgc.

JBPA is a union like SWPA,IPA,APA or NPA. The difference is that JBPA does not represent the JetBlue Pilots yet, we are starting the interest card campaing, once we have 50%+1 we can file with the NMB and an election will be held. on that election you can have IBT,ALPA,JBPA or any other union campaining for representation ..

We already have a "union" like Skywest has. We've had an elected but unchartered, unstructured group for years now. This drive (if successful) will be a true in house union like SWAPA (Southwest) APA, NPA and others.

I'm not going but I'll buy pizza for the 5 guys who do show up...

I think there will be a lot of supporters who don't show up for whatever reason. There are already over 300 pilots registered at JBPA. I'm sure some are just curious.

Sounds like very, very good news to me. Actually, I think that it is very good news to any unionized airline pilot. It's too bad it's not ALPA, but frankly any union that puts an end to one pilot group undercutting other union pilot groups is EXCELLENT news. In fact, post a mailing address and I'd be happy to make a donation to such a cause.

So tell us, what kind of time line are we looking at? When do the cards go out? What's the deadline for the JetBlue guys to submit their cards?

I think its premature for anyone to be posting that a union drive is in the "final push". Even if there are some 300 pilots registered at JBPA, that is a far cry from the numbers needed to actually bring a union to JB.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. Patience and persistence equals prosperity.

Remember Bayou you in your cushy top 400 seniority with your" i got mine" nice 150K plus salary are the minority at jb.. There are another near 1600 here that want thing better for the majority.

Please take some time listen to the information and make a choice. You can educate yourself without having to immediately cast your vote.. All 1900 + pilots here can work together to make this a better company.
