(07-29) 10:17 PDT LOS ANGELES (AP) --

A jury reached a verdict Tuesday in the trial of a white former officer charged with police brutality for punching and slamming a handcuffed black teenager onto the trunk of a squad car during a videotaped arrest.

The verdict, reached less than an hour into the jury's fourth day of deliberations, was to be read in the afternoon.

Former Inglewood officer Jeremy Morse, 25, is charged assault under color of authority in the arrest of Donovan Jackson, then 16, at a gas station last July. A bystander videotaped part of the arrest,

Morse's former partner, Officer Bijan Darvish, 26, is charged with filing a false police report about the incident.

The arrest sparked protests, raised racial tensions and led to comparisons to the Rodney King beating.

While the jury was deliberating, a coalition of government, church and community leaders urged calm. Hundreds of volunteers, including some former gang members, planned to flood the streets after the verdict to plead for peace.

Ok, maybe my system is slow today, but I've read this post three times as well as the attached link to the article. We're they found guilty or innocent?

I'll burn down my neighborhood, I swear I will, LOL.

Gangs, when you really want to belong.

The verdict is to be read at 2PM our time about 5PM on the east coast.

I was here during the King Riots and it was not pretty, even north of LA people were still very tense.

Local media is cutting between some talking heads blabbing on about the trial and clips of LA burning as well as showing cops in riot gear, IMHO they understand that a not guilty verdict will be a green light for a nice mid-week summer evening shopping spree for some of our citizens.

Gawd I hate this place...

Deadlocked on count one: mistrial.-- verdict on count 2: Not guilty

Count one is evidently the assult, count 2 is filing a false report.
