Hello Everyone, I'm scheduled to take the Comm Multi add on at ATP in August and was wondering if anyone who has completed this course could answer this question for me. Is the Seminole Training Supplement that ATP sent to me really enough preperation for the oral exam? I'm considering purchasing Jepp's Multi book, but i'm a little short on cash and am hoping to get by without it. Thanks

I didn't go to ATP for my Comm Multi, but i have their seminole training supp. I would say that if you can float the 59 bucks for the Jepp book do it. The clarity you will have in terms of the maneuvers and describing the aerodynamics of multi flying will be worth the money. Especially if you plan on flight instructing in a multi someday.

I do plan on getting the Jepp book sooner or later, i'm just curious if the supplement will get me through the course and checkride. I do not expect 4 days of multi training will make me a competent multi pilot and I have a few MEI's I can fly with after I get the rating that are willing to split costs with me in a 310. The biggest problem seems to be a place to rent a multi for the rating and I think ATP has a very cost effective approach, otherwise I would be training with the instructors I know here in so. cal

I just completed the training and I didn't get the Jepp book until AFTER the training and the checkride. The supplement was sufficient in that whatever else you may get asked will/should be covered by your instructor. There may also (probably) be a gouge that you will see before your checkride. Biggest thing is to know your systems inside out and make sure you know everything there is to know about engine out operations, from the flight charateristics to performance. Good luck and I think the training is really good. You can't beat the price.

By the way, which location will you be attending?

VampyreGTX Thanks for the information and the heads up. I will be at the riverside location August 16th. Could you explain what you mean by there may also (probably) be a gouge that you will see before your checkride ?

By gouge, I mean that a lot of schools have a collection of prior students experiences with each examiner. Most examiners ask the same questions of every student (or at least similar questions) and perform the flights almost exactly alike. This will help you to focus your preparation for your checkride. However, it in no way means that is ALL they will ask. The gouge will usually cover what you will get asked, but the examiners know these exist and they can and will occassionally sometimes through a new question in just to make sure your not just memorizing the gouge.

I want to thank everyone who has replied to my post so far, your input is very much appreciated. Thanks!
