Quick question:

Last week I got a message to call a woman (initials DC) with a 914 area code with regards to a "possible interview" with Atlas.

So I called her back, she was busy and said she'd call back. But I had to fly and missed that message. But she left another message with another 914 number saying that one was better.

Now almost a week later, after a few days of phone tag (four hour time difference), she's stopped returning my calls and every time I call (either number) I get her voice mail.

Should I think I've been blown off (with three recommendations)?
Or has there been a melt down in the Human Resources Dept. and it's just that right now is a bad time?

Maybe she got sick and took a few days off of work?

I don't like just hanging here without a red or green light. Any suggestions or information?

MAR,

Trust me - you don't want to be at Atlas unless you want to play the big furlough game. At my company we have 2 guys that left and got furlough less than a year of getting hired, on went back and got furloughed again and now told them NO-WAY the 3rd time around.
In-fact, I ran into one Atlas guy that flew your 727 for a while but just wnt back.

Just some info.......

atlas

Yes, they are swamped. She is very busy doing interviews in Miami.

It is worth taking. It is challenging with the on-you-own-commute to the London base.

Best wishes

I finally got through.

A different woman (LG) called me yesterday and we scheduled an interview. Phew!

Pilotx--Thanks for the encouragement. I understand about the commute--and *almost* everything else. I have several friends at Atlas.

ILStomins--Thanks for your concern but I gotta be honest, I'm goin' with my gut on this one. I know what the track record says, ever since 1999.

But you know what? I kind of think of job searching like dating. You know, it's fun for now but I don't really see anything long term here. So I better move on and the sooner the better before I get too deeply involved.

And let's be honest, who's dying to hire a DC6 pilot? On most job applications it looks no better than Seminole time--except that it's part 121.

I think it's time to break on through to the other side and see what the big fuss is about with those jet thingys.

Talk to you soon.

Mar,

Those "jet thingys" are a lot simpler than those "R-2800 thingys"...trust me on this one.

Things I've heard

Bafanguy--Is it true there's no carb heat on a jet engine? I also heard a "hot start" can be a bad thing rather than just a technique...

:)

Just kidding, of course.

I'm sure jet engine flying poses some challenges of it's own. But man! I'm looking forward to bleed air. Ya gotta love it--especially at -40!

Peace brother.

Mar,

Yeah, jet engines are pretty simple except that counting the blades during the start is a real b!tch until you get the hang of it !!! A-Squared says he could do it better than you can...

Can someone please post an email address or mail address for Atlas Air human resources. Also, do I stand a chance?
I have 3900 TT 3000 turbine of which 1600 is in turboprops the rest is in jets. A learjet type and an ATP.
Thanks

Atlas details?

ALL:

I have heard that Atlas is looking to get 25 more aircraft. A couple of my copilots are looking to bail and I'd like some details.

They are under the impression that the company buys positve space tickets to get to your assignment. Is that true? What is the on-your-own to London?

Thanks,

Jeff
