Re: Cathay Pacific

Talking about B747 operators,
What's the latest with Cathay Pacific, are they still hiring for their North American bases?

Supply & demand baby, if you think 500 hours is high, back in the TWA glory days, the hours were higher!!!

I walked into Clay Lacy in VNY a month ago with my best suit on and a stack of resumes in hand and a very nice HR lady told me that with the present state of things in the industry I couldn't even get a job there as a lineboy.

That's a depressing statement. Actually about 90% of the stuff I read on this board is depressing.

OK, now my input/question. I was hired by Atlas Fall of 2000. Yup, Fall of 2000. I had a class date (originally) in June 2001. In Spring of 2001 got the call from Mr. Sikorski (sp) they were cnx all future training classes until ??? But once they started training again they would call in order of hire etc. and fill classes that way. Problem is I've not heard anything from them since the phone call April of 2001. I have updated my address etc. with the folks at the HR dept. at Atlas but no other words. Any ideas from anybody would be helpful. Best of luck to all!!

If there is any hiring at Atlas it's going to be F/O's. There are a bunch of 58 to 60+ year old Captain types waiting for any F/E spots to open. Plus I don't see any hiring due to 5 or 6 aircraft going back to the bank. Enjoy!

Rect,

When I got called in November, I was told that they were taking the most qualified from the pool. I have a type and 3,000 hours in the classic, so I suppose that I met the bill. I know, it isn't fair. I'm the first to admit it isn't. They should bring in people from the pool by interview date, but they didn't ask me how to run their show. However, with yesterdays news, looks like we are all going to be waiting for a long, long time, if ever. Good luck. Maybe this means Polar will start hiring again.

mrvmo,

You sound like a SAI furloughee. I know your pain, remember there's a bunch of us in the same boat.

Just keep your head up. If I am correct as to who you are you still got a lot going for you. Just try to stay positive, it will all work out.

All we can do is hope for the best.

Who knows with a little, no make that ALOT of luck we might get recalled.

Again if my assumption is correct, who knows in a few years you might get recalled from the "other" place.

Take care & good luck to us all!
