Atlas Air crewmembers ratify labor agreement

Atlas Air crewmembers represented by the Air Line Pilots Association
have
voted to ratify the tentative labor agreement reached between Atlas Air
and ALPA on June 27.

The 42-month contract, the first between Atlas Air and crewmembers,
takes
effect on August 1.

Again, the contract has been ratified. Thank you.

Among other items, it provides for a first- year pay increase in hourly
pay rates of 17 percent, 6 percent increases each of the succeeding
three
years, as well as profit sharing and stock options. The contract also
offers several quality-of-life improvements, including reduced workdays
and travel assistance for crewmembers living away from their base.

“Ratification of this contract is an important milestone for Atlas
Air,”
says CEO Rick Shuyler. “With nearly a four-year commitment from our
crewmembers, we will be able to enter long-term contracts with our
airline
customers confident of our ability to continue to provide them with the
reliable and low-cost service that they deserve. This agreement is good
for Atlas Air and good for our crewmembers.”

Recall......

Possible hiring...........mabey.......

Atlas just announced a big recall of pilots and PFE's (I think everybody on furlough).

Also all future furloughs have been cancelled. Dare I say, mabey they will hire again????

Just wanted to put a little good news out here, where there seems to be be very little.........

Do the new hire's start off as FE's in the 747 or as a F/O? I heard somewhere that they hire into the right seat. If so, where do the FE's come from?

A percentage come from the military. The C-141 has enlisted FEs that flow perfectly into the PFE role. Their school is as long as pilot training.

Does Atlas still use UPAS?

Well...well...some good news indeed!! Some of my old neighbors in AK will be happy not only for the new contract...but to be able to go back to work too!! As for me...I wonder if my being hired in September of 2000 is still good for a class?? Mr. Sikorsky (sp) said to wait for a call...April of 2001. This was after he told me that all future training date for 2001 were CNXd. Just a thought, I was excited about going to work for them at the time and would still enjoy (I believe) flying the mighty "Whale" around the globe. Who knows...best-o-luck to all the folks at Atlas. Now about the stock I have of theirs...

More info...

Well, just got a company voice mail from the CEO. We have recalled all the pilots and have actually started a new hire class!

It was news to all of us.......No info on how many classes or anything else but I'll try to dig up some more info later........

Godspeed,
