ATL-BIL (Was ASA now Skywest)?

ASA was to do the ATL-BIL flights on the -900's but now it appears that Skywest are doing the flights. Looks like we lost this one before it even started, are we going somewhere else what gives!?

Maybe Skyw is taking BIL to get their aircraft back in the western system and we get something like their route to PHL. I don't see the problem.

Darn. It would of been nice to see a different part of the US for a change. The 700 is starting to feel like the ATR. SYR,ROC,VPS, PHF,EYW(700 version of HHH, but with no long overnights) YUL, CAK, BTV, FNT,BTR....yada yada. Routinely flying to the same 10 places, or at least overnighting......

Agreed. Pax/crew comfort and opinions on "who should be flying this route" aside...

Primary preferred routing on this one will likely be something along the lines of:
KATL.COKEM4.CARPT..KT33O..KM39M..KK54I..KP66E..KD78A..KU03U..KBIL

That routing is just about as direct as you can pull off...and if comes out to about 1533nm. When SKW was operating CYYZ-KSLC w/ the CRJ9...a planned, nearby alternate and the right amount jetstream wind turned into a fuel-stop roughly 75% of the time. That route checked in at about 1667nm. Sure, the published range on the CRJ9 is somewhere around 2200nm...and she can likely pull it off...but not without bumping a little payload when going East to West.

While the headwinds will not, in most cases, be as directly on the nose as they were on that Toronto-SLC route, the selections for a legitimate alternate airport are typically more distant.

Regardless of who flies it...ASA or SkyWest...it's likely gonna be a headache more often than not until DL sucks it up and puts more "mission appropriate" metal on the route.

Just as an FYI, EV is not supposed to start that route until June 15th and it is still on Delta's "new markets" calendar as being operated by EV.

When we use to do ATL/STX that checked in about 1500 miles. With a flight plan as long as my arm. Once we got past Macon they would clear us to that NDB on Puerto Rico then direct to STX. We only burned 12k on the fuel. I think we would carry about 60 pax.

yeah... no. I've done 46xx several times in the past month on the 200 at ASA. In your defense, most of the flights are 5xxx but there are still a lot of 4xxx
