Anybody go to the AIR, Inc. job fair in ATL yesterday? I couldn't go because of my work schedule and was wondering if somebody could pass along any tidbits from ATA's presentation. (i.e. are they finished interviewing for the year, are they still planning on hiring 100 in the 1st quarter of '04, etc.)

Thanks,

SK

I can't find my notes for some reason but I don't remember being given any hard numbers. The speaker, a Captain, did mention that they were going to take less 737 deliveries and try to get more 757's off the used car lot for more coast to coast. After the seminar we all turned in our resumes and were all promised an app to be sent in the mail in the near future. This was great as I have sent in a resume a while ago and never heard anything. To answer the app question, he said typed or printed neatly is acceptable.
This was my first air inc seminar and I thought it was worth it. We can all bitch about paying to see the recruiters, but where else can you speak directly to the people who do the hiring.

Thanks for the info (finishing my ATA app this morning - those essay questions are a pain!) =)

My question is what was said of the other airlines in attendance reagarding hiring plans / furlough recall plans? Did DAL (the usual sponsor) make an appearance? How about Air Tran, SWA, jetBlue, etc?

Thanks!

I saw the ATA CP in one of our ATL training facilities. He said they have enough people in the pool to cover the January 04 new hire classes. He said interviews of off the street candidates will not resume until mid Jan. 04. (subject to change). They are still planning on hiring 100 during first quarter 04.

As far as competitive quals go, applicants with PIC turbine (regardless of background) are the most competitive.

Good Luck:cool:

Lear 70,

Delta was not there, at least not on Saturday for the forum. JetBlue and Southwest were also not in attendance. AirTran had their recruiting staff plus several line pilots there to help collect all the resumes. AirTran seemed like the big draw as they had the longest line (initially) and their top h.r. person, Nidiffer, was there to talk with people. I forget what the hiring numbers are, but with the 737's coming in shortly they will have to ramp up to get them staffed.

Cool... thanks for the reply. I kind of figured SW and JB would be absent, but surprised about Delta,,, in past years of no hiring they at least made an appearance for face value.

Glad to see Jill is still in top form... you should see her dance at the after party - in Dallas they always go to the same place and I used to live there... Maybe that's why I never get a call from her, know too much dirt. :D
