Just got the call for the Sept. 22nd class in IND. I got the 757. I was wondering if anyone got the 737?

Feel free to PM me.

It's finally time to write that resignation letter!

See you guys / gals in IND...

P.S. for those in the pool or waiting to hear. I interviewed on 7/23 and got the congrats letter on 7/28.

Congrats guys, you'll love the 757. The training is fantastic and six weeks+ in Phoenix is a good time!!!

Hey HarleyGuy,
I think in one of your last posts you said you were at ATA now, anyways we have get togethers in Daytona for bike week and biketoberfest. One of our Captains lives at Spruce creek. It's a good time and the turn out keeps getting bigger if your interested.

Yippeee!

Hey all...I'm in the 9/22 class also. Got the 757, and hoping for MDW base. Sharon said MDW was likely, but she didn't know. Do ATA pilots bid for bases at initial?

Can't wait to see you all there.

Has anyone heard if it's all 75/73?

From what I heard it is a mix like most classes. I don't know if there are any L10s though. I didn't mention it in my previous post but I got the 757.

Also, for all the folks still trying to get in, they said that they would be interviewing again the last two weeks of Sept. There is also a 6 Oct class. They mentioned a final class for the year at the end of Oct and then no more classes in Nov and Dec.

I think they just started a L1011 class this week, the next one won't be until after the first of the year. They are desperately short Fo's on the 737. 255 capts on the 737 in MDW and 145 Fo's. However we will me getting more 757's next year and only two 737. The 737 will start arriving again in 05'. There should be a good mix of new hires on the 75 and 73. As a new hire you will be based at MDW. West coast and Indy are senior. Interestingly they are talking of military flying on the 737 to Keflivik. In time you will see the 737 off to Hawaii.

Congrats on getting hired at ATA!
ATA is a fantastic airline to work for.
For the 757 guys/gals, you are gonna love Scottsdale.

MDP727- Sign me up! I look forward to alot of riding (after my consolidation is done) now that the Air Force won't be keeping me from my bike.

Glad to hear about another class or two in Oct- the more the merrier! I've heard alot of rumors about getting more jets next year now that the debt is all but taken care of. Also heard alot of rumors about bringing some L-10s back out of the desert, that's why I was wondering about L-10 slots.

32drvr- You do bid for base at indoc, but it's obviously dependent upon slots available. We L-10 guys were the only ones that got a choice, I think. We could pick Indy or LA (I took LA). I think all the 75s went to MDW and all the 73s to Indy. Getfurlouded & Thunderchief: can you guys confirm that?

HarleyGuy:

Thanks for your response. I live in Chicago...if I don't get mdw, how long before I could bid back?

Cheers, and see you there.

If you get assigned anywhere but MDW, I believe that it would be just a few months before you are able to hold it. Word is another base bid to come out soon...

sayagain?

sayagain is right

32- You're seat locked after training for 12 months, but not base locked. So you can bid a base change at the next bid, if you want. I've heard rumors of another bid before the end of the year, so you'd be able to be there by the end of IOE. But you're very likely to get MDW in the first place (knock on wood).

Crew bases and Groundschools

Hey Guys,

Just thought Id put in what I know. Im sure everyone is aware that the Sep 22nd class is 28 and pretty much 1/2 and 1/2
737, 757. Both of the pilots I inteviewed with are going to be in that class on the 757.

You will be based in MDW, on the 737 or the 757. Only one of the three of us (737 pilots) from the Aug 25th class got IND for a base, but before the award came to him there was a senior pilot that took it. Im sure that if they offer you IND there is probably someone else currently flying that wants it so ??? if you will get it.

Other than that I can only re-iterate what everyone else here has to say about this place. It is awesome. It just keeps getting better and better. Hopefully the line flying is just as good after the perm-a-grin from just getting the job wears out.

Good luck to all and see you in MDW.
