I would be careful asking Texan pilot for any advice. He might not know what he is talking about. Just kidding. Look up aviationinterviews.com, the interview process has not changed in a long time. Try to get sometime in the Purdue 727 sim if you have not flown anything like it. Be yourself and have fun. It is a one of kind interview experience.

The current gouge for the ATA interview is right on. They will fly you out the day before and keep you in the LaQuinta, you pay. Then the next day they pick you up around 11:30 and take you to headquarters and the day begins. You go up stairs to fill out reams of paperwork while Chief Pilots and Fleet Managers come in and chat with you. After about an hour, your interview begins. You will have one interview with a flying pilot, mine was with Mike Gerdes, and one interview with HR. Both were short and sweet. The flying interview asked the standard questions that lead to the decision if they want to spend 5 days with you in the cockpit. Why do you wanna work for ATA? Describe yourself in 3 words? Misc questions straight from your application. Describe yourself as a person, pilot, and captain? Will you relocate? What do you do when the person you are flying with is weak? Tell me about you? Describe CRM? SOP? Nothing very hard. Dont try to be someone you arent. After the interview, they drive you to LAF and you eat dinner. We ate at the Outback. Then you go to Purdue and you will fly the 727 sim for about 30 min. Standard departurre, climb, level off, maintain 250kts, climb, intercept radial, holding instructions, multiple questions about holding- speeds, leg lengths- and runway lighting- when do CL lights change colors and when does edge lighting change, brief the approach, fly standard ILS to a landing. It is a great, laid-back experience. We flew the sim based on flight time. I was 3rd out of 6 with 4800hrs. The day ends at midnight. Pack a powerbar. Try to let the know who you are, but dont dominate conversation. Be courteous to EVERYONE, they all have a say. My class started May 5 and all 14 of us came to the 757 based in MDW. I still feel that this has to be one of the best airlines out there, if not the best. Great place to spend a career. Starting pay is $36/hr the first year and approx. $64 the second year. Upgrade is approx. 4.5-5 years. 5 year CA pay is about $140,000.
