The current hiring has been based on the expected 757 purchases. Because we are not getting more than one more (for now), they no longer have the positions to fill. In fact, eight of us were just pulled out of 757 ground school and switched to the 737. Rumors of 767s have been around for a long time, but they are actually in negotiations now with ALPA concerning pay rates. I don't think they are doing that just for amusement. I guess time will tell...

We had decided on 7, then 5, then 2, now just one 757 to add this year (N512AT, which is on property, but not online yet.)

A memo came out today from the system Chief Pilot. The base bid was canceled, saying our operational needs didn't allow for a new base bid. We will be getting 2 spankin' new 737-800's, and of course N512AT, the one 757, in 2004. So this is why classes/interviews have been halted.

For Sensei and the others told no March classes,

The above is what the company is telling us. We went from 5 757's in '04 to just one.

In addition to the 2 737's in '04, we are getting 6 new 737's in '05 starting July. They would have to train in spring '05 to accomodate the '05 plan. Don't even mention retirements.

Regards,

FBJ

What a kick in the bean-bag! Man I was excited for my interview this week. Who knows how many brain cells I will have killed by the time they call me again.
