Hey, I just recieved an ATA application. I dont have any internal recommendations. I have 2 type rating including a 737. Should I send in the application right away, or wait until I could find someone who could give me an internal reference. I am conerned that without a reference, I might waste this application & it may sit at the bottom of the pile for awhile. Any opinions?

Send it in ASAP. I did not know anyone either and I got the interview call two weeks after the app hit IND. They don't send out an app unless they are interested in you. It seems the 737 type helps as I have one also.

I don't work for ATA, so my opinion may be worth less than $.02, but I have read on here that they somehow notice how long from the time they send you the app until the time they receive it back. This supposedly somehow gauges your interest in working for ATA. Now again, that is nothing but flightinfo.com rumor.

Now for my opinion. I would send it in right away, just to get it on file. Then, when and if you get a letter of recommendation, this gives your application another chance to make it to the top of the pile. Sort of two opportunities for them to look at it instead of just the one. Again, only an opinion from an outsider.

Send it it!!!!

I sent mine in just a few days after I got it (had no recommendations either). About four months later, I was in class!!

It's a great place to be, so get going on that application!

PAN1900,

How long after you sent your resume did it take to get an app? I sent a resume about 4-5 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. Not like I'm someone special or anything that they would send an app the moment my resume hits the door but I was trying to get a rough idea of the average wait for an app. Assuming they send one at all to me. BTW, no LOR either. Good luck!

Guys thanks for your advice. I am going to send it in this weekend. I orinigally send my resume only 4 months ago. I did interview there two yrs ago, & mentioned it on a cover letter. It was one of the best interview experiences I had.

I sent them a resume, waited a year, sent 'em another one, it's been a month . . . not good, huh?

Send it in. Then if you can get a rec., send that in too. I didn't have one and got a call about 2 weeks later for an interview.
