I have a light brown ATA application dated #F10125 (Rev. 1/01). Is this the most current at ATA? I just moved and while unpacking found a grey ATA app. with no date. Things have been so hectic around here I don't remember which app. I received first (One by mail, the other at a job fair). Thanks in advance...
CJ-

There is no mention of the $25 app fee with either. I suppose a check made out to ATA will suffice.... Suggestions?

I just got mine in the mail yesterday (2-3-03)

Its the same number (#f10125) and its revision is 7/02. Its greyish brown colored. The cover letter that came with it did mention the $25.00 fee ( payable to American Trans Air) There is a note on it about financial hardship- if you cant afford the fee, then they want you to send a letter with your app explaining why, and then they would consider waiving the processing fee

Hope this helps

Does anybody know how long it takes ATA to process an application and what are their competitive numbers?
Thanks for any feedback...

These days, if you have a couple of Shuttle landings and a Doctorate you might get a call for an interview six weeks after they get your app. Realistic times for mortals is more like two to three months.

A friend of mine with 4000 hours PIC Turbine and 1200 SIC in the MD-80 got shot down for an interview (no degree, though). These days if you have 1200 PIC turbine, some large jet time (PIC preferred), and a four year degree, you will get a peek - IF you have an internal recommendation. All bets are off without the rec.

I wouldn't get an interview today, and when I talked to the MDW Regional Chief Pilot he said he wouldn't either. Tough times.

A buddy of mine is interviewing as I write this. He has NO jet time. He has 121 pic time in a Dash 8, about 2000hrs and 7000 tt. The Dash is really the only trubine equipment he has flown. He is still a captain with a USAirways express carrier. No college degree. He sent his app in sometime in Dec and got the call about two weeks ago. Also no internal rec. So go figuree it can still happen. I hope he gets hired. He is a great guy to fly with and deserves it.

All the power to him - you should ask him for today's numbers in the lottery. I applied to ATA for years, but without some large jet PIC and a recommendation, I couldn't turn anything loose. I'm short of the degree, too.

I honestly hope that he gets the job and does well in training. That might open the eyes of the training department that just because a pilot has stellar qualifications he might not make the best employee - and that mutts like us do.

Is he an ALG Dude? I worked for what seemed like forever there until 1998.
