They're locked.

The locks are controlled electronically using air ground logic and monitored through the PSEU. Can't remember if it's a speed or weight on wheels that locks/unlocks them.

I heard it was an AirTran pilot who was upset that the ATN MEC shut down the forum.

So, if you do a single engine takeoff, with a door open..you are still safe..can't open the overwing exit.

on an NG, the door opens out. FRM does not mention air pressure as a method of latching.
