So how does the UPS thing play out with regards to ASTAR?

All I've read about is ABX. ASTAR does international flying for DHL, so I'm guessing that won't be effected, but what about anything else?

AStar is just as screwed as ABXA. They are going to feel the pain first but after that we're just as dead.

What about Polar?

we will get "official" word june 16th... thats when the official 'roadshow' begins with the daz... the only other official tidbit of information stated "currently, there will be no change to Astar flying for the remainder of 2008" read into that what you want, so before the 16th of June, everything you read is PURE speculation, dont believe everything you read. The big concern is that employees from all 3 in ILN dont start panicking and calling in sick, that will torpedo this into reality alot quicker than 12 months. Therefore, my advice get the official facts or "opinions" from the daz and gang then make a logical decision on work/life etc. I think the first showtime is at 3pm on June 16th. At that time, whatever further information WE are privy too will be brought forth, if we get a song and dance this place will scatter like "cockalaroaches (see the movie scarface)"

June 16th. Wow. I knew a lot about that guy before with his stellar work at Northwest, but I had no idea he was so speedy in keeping his employees informed. Sorry you guys have to deal with ..... him.

as in, "what yarn mgmt is spinning to keep us here and not revolt information" i.e. like anyone is really going to believe much of what the "leaders" have to say at this point... obviously even if its in writing it doesnt matter.. what do I plan on doing? seeing what "THEY" have to say and make MY own opinion and decision based on what I interpret the FACTS to be.... until then its all sensationalized bs, the only facts I have heard is 39 of 55 DC9's are gone starting july 1, which EVERYONE in ILN knew the 9's were gone, some trucking capacities will be cut, some hub recolonizations and a PROPOSAL to meet with UPS to contract SOME of the lift, which still needs to pass antitrust legislation, injuctions by our elected officials, injuctions by our unions... DHL stated they are upset with too restrictive foreign ownership laws (google open skies agreement and see what the US has proposed for may 2008), inefficiencies with two air carriers and "gas hogs" for aircraft.

Am I holding out hope that I GET to keep this job? NO. Do I care? Yes, I worked my arse off to get to this point in my career. Will I start over in the airlines? H>>> F>>Kng NO... this is the last one.

Thanks!! HOPE there's enough room, save me a seat?

No worries. Lots of industries, lots of directions. Our only concern would be the number of jobs out there due to our miserable economy. The good news however is that there are a $#!^ pot full of more jobs...."out there", than in the aviation industry. You will be just fine.
