According to the Astar MEC hotline ( 800 DHL 9717 ) Astar management has asked for concessions to lower their costs so the can be more competetive for future DHL business. The whipsawing of Astar and ABX by DHL has begun.

ah, no it hasn't . they can pound salt. the majority of pilots i have talked to say no way, pound salt or sand, . it is simply a means for dhl to cut costs when in fact their real problem is on the revenue side of the house.

The fact is that both Astar and ABX are too expensive compared to the other ACMI's that are or will be available to provide DHL with lift. The only thing ABX has going for it is they are CAT II/III capable, although with the recent prohibition against hand flown CAT II in the DC-8 and DC-9, the probability of sucessfully executing a CATII approach with the SP-50 autopilot is questionable at best. Astar on the other hand is strictly a CAT I airline and they are no different than the other ACMIs except for one small item, their crew costs are substantially higher!

Face it, DHL will go with whoever is the cheapest, especially since they are losing their a$$ in the US market. Both ABX and Astar are replacable and will be forced to take massive contract concessions to be on par with the other ACMIs or DHL will replace you too!

i see your back rhoid. how many other names are you using. oh wait!, silly me, you're actually very easy to spot.

Nah. You're just too stupid to understand what's going on. I vote no one responds to this moron anymore. It's a total waste of time, and he obviously lives to attempt to cause trouble.

Now Rhoid, RJDC, IHaveAPension, Freight Nazi, etc..etc..is talking to himself.
