I am starting this thread to ask for help. Currently the FAA medical folks in OKC are running so far behind that it's now taking up to 6 months (actually 7 for me right now) to get an approval. If anyone is willing to help, the AOPA has advised to me write my senator and ask them to intervene and get some more help in there. Right now there are THREE doctors - two are in Iraq - handling all the cases for the entire US.

PLEASE, if you have the time and are willing to help all of us who are stuck in limbo waiting for our medicals to come of out the black hole in OKC, please send off a note or an email. The addresses for them all are at this page:
http://www.senate.gov/. Click on the senators button for a list of addresses and emails.

Thanks to anyone who is willing to help in this matter. My one letter won't make a difference but if lots of us write, maybe it will. I realize it wouldn't be in time to help me personally, but I don't want anybody else to have to go through this.

Medical certification help

Why don't you try www.leftseat.com? They claim to be able to cut through the Oklahoma City red tape.

They seem to be very helpful. I sent them a query about concerns I had about getting my medical, and they responded promptly and helpfully.

Another idea is AOPA's counselors. They are similarly prompt and helpful.

Hope that helps a little. Good luck with getting your medical.

Thanks Bobby. AOPA has done everything they can do. That's why they've started advising people to write their representatives. The problem is that everybody has to go through approval, no matter who you have working for you, and the three doctors are simply so swamped that it's taking a very long time to get off their desk. The general pilot population doesn't have any idea how bad the situation is out there right now, so I was hoping to spread the word a little and maybe stir up some support.
