I asked the Dulles FSDO about this today and the inspector reckons it can be done. Now I just need ideas on how.....

....to add an ASEL rating to me ATP certificate.

Do a type rating on C208 and inlcude with it an ATP test? Can you do that on the simulators down in Florida?

thanks

There is no C208 type rating, as it is not a jet and under 12,500 gross. If I remember right, a professor of mine in college took an ATP ride in her Cardinal RG.

you can do a single engine atp in a cessna 172 if you already have the multi atp.

I was under the impression that any turbine engined a/c needed a type rating?

Anybody know where I can do rating on C208 amphib? or C180amphib?

thanks

Turbojets do

P.S. Why bother getting a useless rating? Does this matter for a job? Not to be cynical, just curious.

I did mine in a 172. Why? Because I wanted to. It was actually the most fun checkride I've ever had, I'm glad I did it.

Did mine in a 172RG. It was either that or do another boring BFR.

you can do part of the checkride but not the landings, need a complex for the bounces.

I went to get the ATP in the multi. and it had a MX issue, so I did it in the C172. It cost $200; that included the ride and the plane. I got the ATP and renewed my CFI in one shot. I returned weeks later and got the MEL atp. I did not want to let the CFI expire and wasn't sure I could work in the ME ride in time.

Thanks guys,

labbats no, its not for a job, just to have a SE rating as well. You never know what might come up in future.
