Why did you upgrade 79%? The line drop was a result of a bunch of people whining about red arrow days. When you hold a line (which shouldn't be too far into the future hopefully), how would you feel if those that are coming up felt they should have more time off, or better yet, "share" in their reserve?

I will enjoy my line. I've put my time in. You will too. Sorry you have to sit reserve, that sucks. I remembering duking it out a few years ago with a dude on the ALPA Board who upgraded and didn't want to sit reserve. He decided it would be great for lineholders to "share the pain." Sorry, I won't do that. You won't either in a couple of months.

Increase in reserves is do to anticipation of many sick crewmembers do to H1N1. According to SH. Probably care less about red arrows.

80+ more reserves because were all gonna get the swine flu! Okaaaaaaaay!

79% why didn't you just downgrade. Could have had a sweet schedule then! Oh that wouldn't have been fair either.

We are reserve heavy next month. Take a long call or a nap line and you won't have to worry about flying. Why do you make this job so hard. It is easy. Learn to live on guarantee with no per-diem. Then subscribe to a good porn site and buy a play station. You will also need a gym membership. Next calculate to the minute you can start and stop drinking. Oh yeah, live in domicile. That is key.

This job is easy, fun, and thoughtless. Somehow you have turned it into some sort of chore.

Well, I'm actually getting the swine flu Dec 23rd and I won't be better until Jan 2nd. It's amazing how I know my body so well.

This is the normal seasonal slow down to ramp up. Block hours always take to dive in Sept and Oct to then ramp up for the holidays. It will then fall again until spring break. The furloughs IMHO are there until adv ticket sales pick up and DL decides what/if any more cuts are needed. We will run lean until this happens or we can get more flying from another carrier ie growth. It would not make any sense to call back our furloughs for two months to then furlough them again.

Is this your first winter here, seriously, lose the hard-on. Its cyclical. Block hours dive during sept/oct then guess what, the holidays come around. I'll bet SH puts out an e-mail in dec stating block hours will decrease for jan/feb then start to increase in the spring through summer. Even Ms. Cleo could have seen this coming. We're still down overall take it in stride man.

I'm with you guys and that's what I believe is normal but when we got this email from SH it made me think it was going to be bleak til next summer:

My advice is to start positioning yourself financially for low credit value lines (hovering around 75 hours) and limited open time trips to pick up starting in September and continuing until at least April 2010 (??). From a quality of life standpoint, Crew Planning/Scheduling will be looking at offering more trip variety (yes, more 3 day trips) and shifting the Reserve coverage to a point that Red Arrow days should be in short supply.

Now we have lines in the high 90s with COMAs in short supply.

The lines are in the high 90's because there are MANY fewer of them and MANY more reserves. Haven't we, for a long time, made likes in the high 70's to mid 80's so more people could hold lines? The lines could be blocked at 125 hours if you decrease the amount enough! Don't let the line values fool you into thinking we have added a bunch of flying.

Why did I upgrade??? I upgraded over 2 1/2 years ago, and did my share of expected time on reserve. This massive drop in lines to appease some of those who demand their right to swap/drop trips is a punishment to many who are the hostages in this battle. I don't find that a fair way to solve the problem. Does your seniority insulate you from that? Sure. Like I said, I'm not argueing the warrants of the seniority system with you. I am disagreeing that this was the proper way to "fix" the red arrow days.

Hopefully we will see this change, but according to SH's newest message, the reserves will increase again for Nov to account for the H1N1 flu! Great!!

I agree with you about the red arrow days. Like Joe Merchant says, "The law of unintended consequences." I didn't like the red arrow days, however, that being said, it never really hindered me either. Hopefully some improvements and good news is around the corner. I hope you can get off of reserve and we can get our furloughs back ASAP!

I can't speak for the 700/900 but as for the 200 I didn't see very many/if any 90+ hour lines. Even w/o them that would have created a minimal number of additional lines. They also awarded many COMA lines for Sept and Oct. SH also stated that for Nov/Dec COMA lines will be in short supply for the inc in block hours which makes sense. As for our furloughs, we will run lean during the holidays and summer months w/ extensions on-demand until we can either see growth or attrition.
