So he attached the camera with a gorilla pod to the side of CBP 2 and used a remote switch to activate the video. He never broke the sterile cockpit rule. Where is the harm in that?

The harm is the video camera being on the glareshield in the way during taxi, takeoff, and landing. The harm is his filming himself at 5000 ft with an XBox controller in one hand and the camera in the other. The harm is his filming at 7000 ft instead of paying attention to the aircraft.

Please explain to all of us who know that this violates multiple issues and is grounds for at least one violation how this does not violate FAR 121.542 which specifically prohibits crew member performance of non-essential duties or activities while the aircraft is involved in taxi, takeoff, landing, and all other flight operations conducted below 10,000 feet MSL, except cruise flight.

Alone just pushing the "remote switch" violates sterile cockpit, as well as taking a sip of water if the Feds really want to get technical. These are both "non-essential duties" that have nothing to do with the operation of the aircraft.

:bomb: hearing the Feds are already looking into it :smash:

FAA vs. NAACP. This should be a good match.

His videos are entertaining and well put together. It's a shame that some FI dweeb had to blow up his spot. I hope nothing happens of it. Even if what he was doing was as dangerous as "sipping water".
